This invention relates to novel and useful improvements in devices adapted to be worn by individuals.

An object of this invention is to support the body of an individual adjacent the waist line and also carry a battery box by the same apparatus.

Another object of this invention is to provide a body support belt which is composed of a narrow section and a relatively wide section connected together at a pair of ends thereof, the wide section having an opening therein with the narrow section passed therethrough in order that the belt may be wrapped around an individual at least twice for support purposes, the narrow section accommodating one end, of a shoulder strap while the other end is releasably fixed in a buckle carried by the wide section, and the narrow section also having a strap fixed thereto in order to accommodate a battery box as used in mining.

Ancillary objects and features of novelty, such as simplicity, will become apparent to those skilled in the art, in following the description of the preferred form of the invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

A reduced end I8 is formed on the relatively wide section 12 and the material at the reduced end is folded as seen in Figure 2 for retaining the buckle 20 in place. This buckle may be of conventional description or may be similar to the buckle disclosed in my copending application. The buckle receives the free end of the narrow section in therein for clamping purposes.

For additional support and support of other articles, the shoulder strap 24 is provided with openings at one end thereof receivable in the buckle 26 as disclosed in my copending application Serial No. 98,779, filed on June 13, 1949, which is fixed to the outside surface of the wide section It adjacent the junction of the Wide section and the narrow section. At the opposite end of the shoulder strap 24 there is a reinforcing tab 28 having means fastening it to the relatively narrow section Ill. Various means may be used in this connection, such as the snap fasteners 30 shown in Figure 2. It is contemplated by the present invention to fix the shoulder strap permanently to the belt or, if desired, fix it by means of removable fastening media such as the snap fasteners.

Also connected to the reinforcing tab 28 is a battery box strap 32 having apertures adjacent one end thereof for releasable connection with the buckle 34, disclosed in my co-pending application Serial No. 98,779, filed on June 13, 1949.

The said buckle 34 is attached to the narrow section I0 by means of a buckle tab 36, as is the buckle 26. Hence, by simply slipping the strap 32 through the appropriate clamping member 38 of the battery box 49, and fixing the end of the battery box strap in the buckle 36, the battery box may be carried easily and conveniently.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A body support belt comprising an elongated member composed of a narrow section and a relatively wide section connected together at a pair of ends thereof, a buckle at a reduced end of of said narrow section with said shoulder strap,

and a buckle fixed to said narrow section having" the opposite end of said battery box strap releasably retained therein.
