* z bl ainis. (cuers) 1' This-invention relates wanes .earmenaaau its concerned primarily with a single garment 1 which is so fabricated that it may be used by in the wearer to perform the functions of "two or -1 nor e under garmentscommonly worn by women.
At the present'time many Women are-desirous of wearing what is known as a parity, girdle- -Such a garment has all the structural elements of a .pair of "ladiesf panties but :is tight fitting and includes panelsorsections of an elastic material whereby it is capable of performing the supporting functions of a girdle, Moreover, it has been the practice to anc'h'orthc up er ends of 'garter straps to; girdles and "similar ladies garments.
Panty girdles eithetypewhmn "are now avail able m-ay ordinarily be worn by the user except for thosep'erio'ds when she requires sanitary proof the type indicated which includes a seam at a convenient location that is normally closed with a hookless or zipper type slide fastener. With this arrangement the user of one of these garments is enabled to put it on with a minimum of inconvenience and the same may be opened as occasion demands with a minimum of inconvenience.
Another object of the invention is to provide a garment of the type indicated which includes a pair of panels, one being located at each side so as to normally cover the flank of the user and each of these panels is made of an elastic material. This imparts the necessary stretchability to the garment.
A further object of the invention is to provide a garment of the type indicated which includes a crotch section which, in effect, defines the panty construction. This crotch section is made from the same material as the main body portion of the girdle but is ordinarily re-inforced. When occasion demands a protective insert such as one made from rubber or plastic may be detachably secured to the face of this crotch and an absorbent pad anchored to the insert.
v 2 :Various other and more detailed objects and advantages of the invention such as arise in con- :nection with carrying ou't the above noted ideas in a practical embodiment will "in part become apparent and "in part be hereinafter stated "as the description of theinventicn proceeds.
The invention, therefore, 'cbm'p'rise's a ladies garment which is adapted to function as'aipair er panties; garter belt, "a girdle, and a sanitary belt. I v For" a run and "more ccni iet understandin 1" f the "inventicn, reference may be had tn the following description and "accompanying drawiiifg's wherein:
Figure l i's il, *flfifit VlW Of a garment designed in accordance with the f'prec'eptsof this invention;
' Figure 2 1s a bak'v'iew pi the garment shown "in Figure 1; I Figure 3 is a bdttcm "plan view lbking' upwardlyat tne-croteh section;and t Figure 1 is a top plan view eras crotch section with *tneyinsert attached thereto.
Referring nbw'to thenrawmg wherein like refieren e character's denote corresponding parts a first more particularly to Ti ers 1, the earmerit of this inventicn is shown as 'c'om'pns'ing a front panel 10 designed to cover the abdomen of the wearerarid 'men snens made r'rom satin erasimilar material; asps panel i l is as having one edge secured to the front panel Ill as by the stitching represented at 12. This side panel I l is made from elastic material. The particular type of elastic material employed is not a part of the present invention as various fabrics of this type are well-known and available on the market as much.
Referring now more particularly to Figure 2, a back panel is represented at 13. The side panel I I has its other edge anchored to the back panel 13 by the stitching represented at l4. A second side panel l5 which is substantially a duplicate of the side panel I I has its side edge secured to the other edge of the back "panel I3 by the stitching indicated at I6.
Under normal conditions the free edges of the front panel l0 and the side panel IE will be joined by a hookless or zipper type slide slide fastener represented at IT. It will be understood that this connection at I! may be opened or closed at the will of the wearer.
A pair of garter straps l8 and I9 have their upper ends secured to the garment in any preferred manner although the invention particularly contemplates that these garter straps or supporters be removable. Thus, any well-known type of removable connection may be employed in anchoring these straps I8 and [9 in position. Another pair of garter straps or supporters are similarly secured to the other side of the garment and designated 20 and 2 I.
A crotch section is designated 22 and the front end thereof is defined by the inclined edges 23 and which are stitched to thefront panel. 10. The rear end of the crotch section 22 is also defined by inclined edges 25 and 26 and these edges are stitched to the rear panel [3.
The garment which has so far been described may be worn by the wearer under normal conditions and will perform the functions oiunder panties, a girdle, and garter belt. When occasion arises that the wearer requires sanitary protection an insert shown at 21 is detachably secured to the crotch section 22. The front end of this ,insert 21 has a formation corresponding to the edges 23 and 24 and it may be detachably secured thereto in any preferred manner such as by the detachable fastening elements shown at 28. Likewise, the edges of the insert 2'! correspond in shape to the edges 25 and 26 to which they are secured by the same detachable fastening elements.
' The insert 21 ismade from a material having good protective qualities such as rubber or synthetic plastic. Pin tabs shown at 29 may be employed for anchoring an absorbent pad to the insert 21. It is notable that 'the insert 21 at each side extends over and beyond the. crotch section 22 so as to afford adequate protection and insure against soilage.
The garment above described may be made in various sizes to suit the body of any particular wearer as a snug fit is highly desirable if not essential to proper functioning of the garment.
While a preferred specific embodiment of the invention is hereinbefore set forth, it is to be clearly understood that the invention is not to be limited to the exact construction illustrated and described, because various modifications of these non-elastic material, side panels of elastic material with the edges of each side panel being joined to the front and rear panel, respectively, a crotch section joining front and rear panels having concavely curved lateral edges, the edges of such crotch section, the bottom edges of the front and rear panels and the bottom edge of said side panels forming two continuous lower edges defining leg openings, and supporters removably secured to said panels and an insert detachably secured to the opposite ends of said crotch section having edges corresponding in shape and size to said crotch section and fastening means adjacent to the opposite ends of said insert for attaching an absorbent pad thereto.
2. A garment of the character described comprising front and back panels of a substantially non-elastic material, side panels of elastic material with the edges of each side panel being joined to the front and rear panel, respectively, a crotch section joining front and rear panels having concavely curved lateral edges, the edges of such crotch section, the bottom edges of the front and rear panels and the bottom edge of said side panels forming two continuous lower edges defining leg openings, and a protective insert detachably secured to the inner face of said crotch section said crotch section and insert having inclined edges and said insert overlying and covering said crotch section, and means on said insert and at the opposite end thereof for detachably supporting an absorbent pad.
