Description
Oct. 10, 1950 I S. PENKSA PROPHYLACTIG Filed Oct. 20, 1948 peizifid,
AITD RNEYS INVENTOR.
Patented Oct. 10, 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,525,238 PROPHYLACTIC Stanley Penlrsa, Yonkers, N, Y. Application October 20, 1948, Serial No. 55,593
1 Claim. 1 My present invention relates to an improved prophylactic or the type normally employed by many men to prevent the transmission 01' venereal diseases during intercourse.
The usual thin rubber prophylactic being a closed cylindrical body closely fits about the body member and it has been found that the discharge of semen against the taut closed end of the prophylactic causes a back pressure which results in prostatic ailments after continued use.
It is therefore the purpose of my invention to provide in the prophylactic of conventional material a pocket or chamber near the end thereof to receive the discharge, and to provide a pin hole in the end through which air only may pass to eliminate any cause or back pressure.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised, but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a partial vertical sectional view of the prophylactic 01' my invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is a sectional view at line 3-4 oi Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a top plan view oi a modified form of my invention.
Figure 5 is a vertical sectional view thereof.
Referring now to the drawings wherein I have illustrated the present preferred embodiment of my invention, I employ a cylindrical body 2 of thin, preferably vulcanized rubber having an end closure 4, and this closure is fashioned with a thickened wall 8 forming the curved inner surface l having a reduced opening ill communicating with the chamber i2 enlarged with relation to the opening Ill, and the closure 4 central of the chamber therein is provided with a minute opening ll.
It will be apparent that when the semen is discharged it will discharge into the chamber shut oil by the end of the body member in the cylindrical casing, and this discharge under pressure will force air out of the opening it but the 2 opening is so small that fluid may not pass therethrough.
Thus the normally air filled chamber will permit the discharge of fluid without back pressure and will obviate any possibility of prostatic difficulty from that source.
In Figures 4 and 5 I have illustrated a modified form of the device of my invention wherein the body 2 is formed with the end closure l6 having a reduced neck portion i8 forming an interior thickened wall 20 and this wall has a collar 22 forming a chamber 24 for the purposes set forth above. The end closure-also is provided with a minute hole or opening 26 to permit the exhaust of air from the chamber when the chamber receives fluid under pressure.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a prophylactic device, a rubber tube having thin walls and having an arcuate substantially closed end the wall thickness of which is greater than that of the walls or the tube, said closed end having a substantially enclosed chamber therein with a pin hole extended through the outer wall of the chamber providing a vent and with the inner wall of the chamber defined by an annular inwardly extended rib with a centrally disposed opening therethrough providing communicating means between the chamber and interior of the tube whereby semen discharged into the tube is received by the chamber, said chamber and pin hole being centered on the axis of the tube whereby the chamber is positioned to receive the said semen.
