2 Claims. (Cl. 2-93) This invention relates to improvements in apparel, such as work jackets, coveralls, shirts, coats and the like.

The invention is particularly concerned with the employment of advertising or identication indicia on an outer face portion, such as on the front or back of the jacket, whereby, for example, a name, trademark, slogan or other advertising matter may be displayed by the wearer of the garment.

It is a particular object of the present invention to provide a novel means and construction whereby such advertising matter can be quickly and conveniently incorporated with the garment, and in like manner can be readily replaced or changed.

I accomplish the object of my invention by providing the garment with an entirely removablel and replaceable co-planar body section, the replaceable section being either blank or bearing the desired advertising matter. Garments of various sizes may be provided, each having a separable section or panel of uniform size and universally interchangeable. More particularly, by providing such replaceable sections or panels, the advertising material thereon may be quickly and conveniently changed on the garment without taking it out of use and without labor thereon or damage thereto, for such purposes as, for example, tying the advertising material in with any radio or other national or local advertising the wearer or employer might at the moment be at least a major portion of their deningedge portions, are provided with separable fastener means. As illustrated, a slide fastener or zipper I3 extends continuously from the lower marginal edge portion I of the panel I0 and at one side thereof, upwardly and across the shoulder,

then downwardly to terminate at the lower marginal edge portion I4 at the opposite side of the panel. The slide fastener may be concealed in conventional manner by recessing it within the marginal overfolds I5 and I6 of the panel and jacket body respectively.A The lower marginal edge portion I4 of the panel I0 is, in the illustrated construction, adapted to extend beneath the waist band I2 where the starting and terminal ends of the slide fastener may be concealed, and said marginal portion may be further secured to the waist band by means of snap buttons I'I or the like.

It will be understood that I may provide a simii lar arrangement and wholly removable panel for sponsoring. In like manner, an interchangeable l blank matching panel and an advertising panel may be provided when it is desired to limit the period of the advertisement 0r hours during which it is displayed.

Other objects relate to details of construction and arrangement of parts which will be apparent from a consideration of the following specification and drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a back view of a work jacket, on the body of a wearer, illustrating a replaceable advertising back panel thereof.

Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary view of the jacket back portion illustrated in Figure 1, with its replaceable panel partly disengaged.

Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.

Figure 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Figure 2.

Referring to the drawings, which for the purpose of illustration shows my invention applied to the back of a work jacket, the reference numeral I0 generally designates a detachable and replacethe back of a coverall, or the front portions of like jackets or coveralls on one or both sides of the center closure.

vIt will be further understood that these replaceable panels may be made of the same material as the garment proper or of diierent material, and if desired may be of contrastingI color. Likewise, instead of joining adjacent edges by means of slide fasteners as illustrated, other securing means such as buttons, snap fasteners or the like may be employed, although not fully equivalent for the normally exposed meeting edges. It will likewise be understood that although my invention is particularly adapted for work garments, and although for the purpose of illustration I have shown it applied to a jacket, it may be found of like suitability for athletic garments, such as shirts or jackets, for football players, bowlers and the like.

I claim as my invention:

1. In a garment of the class described, a body portion, a co-planar body panel separably secured thereto and a waist band portion, a lower marginal edge portion of said panel extending beneath said waist band portion and being thereat separably secured thereto.

2. A garment of the class described comprising a body portion and a Waist band portion, said body portion being formed With an aperture extending upwardly from said waist band portion, a panel portion eo-planar with said body portion tting within said aperture and in abutting relationship with the defining edges thereof and having a lower marginal edge portion extending beneath said waist band, slide fastener means for separably securing said panel to said body portion, and fastener means for separably securing said panel lower marginal edge portion beneath said waist band.
