This invention relates to a holder for compressible tubes for dispensing tooth paste or the like.
One object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described including a casing in which a collapsible tube of paste is adapted to be received in inverted position, and improved means for progressively applying pressure from the inverted bottom end of the tube to squeeze' the paste from the tube orifice presented at the bottom of the casing, the pressure-applying means being movable away from pressure-applying position to facilitate. ready passage of the tubes into and out of the casing.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which may be manufactured at a minimum of costas compared with prior art devices.
These and other objects of the invention will be manifest from the following brief description and the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 is a vertical transverse cross-section through a tooth paste tube holder, embodying the features of the invention.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral designates a box-like holder or casing having a back wall ll against which a collapsible tube of tooth.

The slots are in parallelism withxthe back wall l I, and the radius of the roller approximates the distance from the vertical center of the slots to the inner'face of said back wall, less at least the thickness ofthe tube in a flattened or collapsed condition.
The roller !9 is narrower than the space between the two side walls I! to provide substantial spaces zll and Zlon the shaft l8, between ends of the roller and the adjacent side walls l1. Extended between each: shaft-ipor'tion lBu, I8a in said spaces and the bottom wall I3 may be flexible elements 22, 22, of wire, cord, chain, or the like, adapted to be wound on said shaft portions as the shaft is rotated in counter-clockwise direction as'viewed in Figure 1. that is with forced downward movement of shaft 1! l8, from a position adjacent the top of the casing will progressively flatten or collapse the tube from the invertedbottom end thereof toward the downwardly presented nozzle end thereof, to squeeze paste from the nozzle openi-ngas desired. Al-- though the roller l 9 works mosteffectively when-- rotatably mounted on shaft 1-8, it is self-evident that if rollerl9 were-fixedon said shaft any differential-between the speed at -which. element 22 j. is wound and the peripheral speedofthe roller i would be compcnsatedfor by slidingmovement of the roller on the tube, as distinguished from rolling movement of the roller, as force is applied through nuts 25, 25 which are suitably anchored to the bottomwall 13. Thus the screws 24 are vertically adjustable from the exterior of the eas- "ing, to set both elements 22.at uniform tension.

I in the drawing, as by means of screws received through spaced keyhole slots I l a in the back wall II. A tube of tooth paste I2 is maintained ment of the roller l9 therewith (see Figure 2), and
3 when it is desired to dispense 'a 'small quantity of paste from the nozzle I5 onto'a toothbrush, it is only necessary to turn knob 23 a fraction of a revolution in clockwise direction as shown in Figure 1, to wind the elements 22 on the shaft portions I 8a, and thereby to urge the roller I9 downwardly against the full part of the tube. When all of the paste been idispensed in this manner, the roller 1 9 may be moved upwardly and out wardly along the slot extensions (see chain-dotted lines in Figure 1) Him by rotating the knob 23 to unwind the flexible elements 22, thereby to permit replacement of the flattened tube 12 with a full one, through the top of the hole.
Modifications of the invention may 'be' resorted to without departing from the spirit thereofor the scope of the appended claims;
What is claimed is:
1. A holder for a compressible tooth :paste or like dispensing tube, comprising a support, a backing member, means for supporting the tube on said "supportbacked against the member with the outlet of the tube at one end of the suppor spaced sides 'angularly or" said -backing member and having elongated slots substantially parallel to the backing member, :ashaft having ends rotatably received through saidl slots, a roller on said shaft, the periphery of said roller being generally at a radius substantially equal to the tance from the'center of said slots to said backing member less the thickness of the tube -when. compressed, one or more spaced-flexible elements connected from said end ofsaid support to said shaft, meansfor'rotating said s'haftto wind said flexible element or elements on the'shaft against tension thereon applied by opposing pressure on a filled part of said tube'being-compressed by said roller as it is urged toward said end f'the support by the winding action, said opposing pressure on the tube progressively collapsing the same to dispense thepastethrough the tube outlet.
2. A holder for a compressible tooth paste or like dispensing tube, comprising a support, a backing member,.meansfor supporting the tube on said support backed against the member with the outlet of the tube at oneend 'ofthe support, spaced sides angularly. of said backing member andhaving elongated slots substantially parallel to the backing member,.a shaft having ends rotatably received through said slots; a roller rotatably mounted on said sha'ft,,the periphery of said roller being generally of a radius substantially equal to the distance" from-the center of said slots to said backing member ;less the thickness of the tube when compressed, said roller beingnarrower than the width between said side members to provide winding space on said shaft between the ends of therollerand the side-members, spaced flexible elements connected from said end of said suppor'tto said shaft in said winding spaces, meansfor'rotating'said shaft to wind said flexible elements on the shaft against tension thereon applied'by opposing pressure on a filledipart of said tube beingicom'pressed by said roller as it is urgedtoward said'end of the support by the winding action, said opposingpressure on the tube' pro'gressively collapsingithe same to dispense the paste throughthe tube-outlet.

A holder for a compressible tooth paste or like dispensing tube, comprising .a casing having an apertur'ed bottom member for receiving the nozzle of the tube to project outwardly of the casing, a vertical backing member against which the tube is to he supported, and opposite side members having thereinoppositely disposed'elongated slots extending vertically, a roller extending between said side members and having spindles rotatably received through said slots, the
radius of said roller being substantially equal to the distance from the center of the-vertical slots to the backing member less the thickness of the tube when compressed, sa'id roller 'beingnarrower than the width between said side members to provide winding space on said spindles between the ends of the roller and the side members, spaced flexible elements connected between said bottom member and said spindles in thewinding spaces thereof, manually operable means for rotatingsaid roller to windsaid flexible'elements on the spindles against tension thereon applied by opposing pressure on a filled part of said tube being compressed by said roller as it is urged downwardly 'by the winding action, said opposing pressure on the tube progressively collapsing the-same to dispense the paste through the nozzle.
