CHRISTIAN O. LINK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CHILDS BLOUSE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 258,446, dated May 23, 1882.
Application filed January 25, 1882. (No model.)
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN O. LINK, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boys Blouses, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved boys blouse or coat, which is so constructed that it can be worn with little trouble as a doubleby fastcuin g devices covered by suitable plaits.
The buttons of the coat may be changed,if de-' sired,by removingtheretaining-spring devices, those of the sleeves being reached by means of a slot in the lining of the sleeve, which slot is closed after the buttons have been exchanged.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurel represents a front View of my improved boys blouse, shown with the detachable front piece partly turned up. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the lower part of the blouse. Fig. 3 is a side view of the sleeve turned inside out; Fig. 4, an outside vieweof the sleeve; and Figs. 5, 6, 7,8, and 9 are respectively detail views of the detach able collar, front piece, pocket, sleeve, and back trimmings.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
In the drawings, A represents a boys blouse or coat of any desired size and material, which is made with a single line, a, of buttons at the front part, and which is opened or closed in the usual manner at the back. At each side of andiequidistantly from thefront line of buttons is arranged a plait, b,which runs from the collar down to the lower front edge, and which serves for the purpose of covering the eyes (I, to which the hooks d of a detachable doublebreasted front piece, B, are applied, as shown clearly in Fig.1. The detachable front piece,
B, is trimmed in any suitable manner, the blouse being provided with a correspon din glytrimmed additional detachable collar, 0, below the main collar of the blouse; also, with detachable pocket-pieces D, sleeve-pieces E, and a back piece, F, all of which are attached by means of hooks and eyes below suitably-arranged covering-plaits, 6, whereby the fastening devices of the detachable parts D, E, and. F are covered, as shown clearly in the drawings. When the double-breasted front piece is soiled or worn out it is removed, and also all the remaining detachable parts which are trimmed in keeping therewith, so that the blouse forms then a sin gle-breasted blouse with plain button-trimmings. I
By this construction a new style of boys blouse is furnished, which not alone permits a longer wear of the blouse, but also, if desired, the changing from a double-breasted to a single-breasted blouse whenever desired, and vice versa.
As the single-breasted blouse is provided with buttons at the front end of the sleeve, which, like the front buttons, may be made dotachable to be easily replaced, the sleeve-linin g has to be provided with an interior slot, f, as shown in Fig. 3, which is closed by means of buttons and button-holes, and by which easy access is given to the spring-fastenings of the sleeve-buttons whenever they are desired to be removed or exchanged, which forms an additional novel feature of my improved boys garment.
I am aware that a cloak or blouse provided with a detachable front piece which is buttoned to the cloak or blouse is well known, and I therefore do not broadly claim the same.
Having th us described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination, with a boys blouse or coat having front plaits and a single line of front buttons between the same, of a detachable front portion having two rows of buttons and fastening devices covered by the plaits when attached, whereby the blouse may be changed from a single to a double breasted coat, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, in a boys blouse or coat having a single line of front buttons and front plaits, of a detachable front portion, detach able collar, and detachable pocket, sleeve, and In testimony that I claim the foregoing as 10 back pieces, which are applied by fastening demy invention I have signed my name in presvices to covering-plaits, substantially as speoience of two subscribing witnesses. fied. 5 3. In a boys blouse or coat, the combination, CHRISTIAN C. LINK.
with the sleeve having detachable buttons, of a lining which is slotted below the buttons and Vitnesses: provided with closing devices, substantially as PAUL GOEPEL, set forth. CARL KARP.
