This invention relates to a registering and assembling unit for films and mounts therefor, and has for one of its objects the production of a simple and efficient assembly unit, wherein the mount anchoring pins thereof are yieldably mounted, so as to prevent the penetration of the upper leaf of the mount When the sections of the unit are closed for the purpose of sealing the mount.
A further object of this invention is the production of a registering and assembling unit which will correctly and accurately hold the mount or mask in a proper position to receive the film picture sections, the unit having anchoring pins which penetrate the mask or mount, and which also extend through the sprocket apertures of the film picture sections to anchor the film picture sections in proper relation with respect to the picture framing apertures of the mount or mask.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will appear throughout the following specification and claims.

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the mask or mount in a closed or sealed position.
By referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that I designates the primary section of the unit, to which is hingedly connected a cover section II by means of a marginal hinge l2. The primary section |0 preferably comprises an upper plate, I3 and a lower plate l4, which are secured together in any suitable manner.
The lower plate I4 is provided with suitable sockets, such as the sockets l5 shown in Figure 2. Registering or anchoring pins l6 extend vertically through the upper plate I3, in the manner shown in Figure 1. These pins are preferably four in number, but they may be of any desired number to hold and to properly register the film picture section or sections with the framing apertures of the mask or mount. Each pin I6 is provided with a substantially flat outer end, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, and an enlarged base IT, as shown in detail in Figure 2, which base is adapted to abut the under face of the plate I3, and thereby limit the protrudence of the pin to a selected distance beyond the upper plate l3.
This enlarged base ll of each pin l6 is slidably mounted in a suitable socket, such as the socket l5 shown in Figure 2. An extension or expansion coil spring l8 normally and yieldably holds the pin It in an extended position. Since the pins It are all similarly mounted, it is thought unnecessary to illustrate the mountings of all of the pins, the structure in each instance being that as illustrated in detail in Figure 2.
A mask or mount l9, preferably having a plurality of film framing apertures 25 and 2| formed therein is adapted to be placed upon the upper face of the plate l3. The mask or mount i9 is preferably formed from light card board or heavy paper and is preferably formed from a blank sheet, which is folded at 22, to define a pair of leaves 23 and 24. The apertures 20 and 2| of the respective leaves are adapted to register when the leaves are in a closed or sealed position, such as is shown in Figure l. The leaf 24 shown in Figure 3 is provided with pairs of aligned perforations 25 and 25, preferably located centrally of and adjacent, opposite edges of the framing apertures 2|) and 2| of the leaf 24.
The mask I9 is placed upon the section ll) of the unit as shown in dotted lines, in Figure 1, so that the pins l6 extend through the perforations such as the perforations 25. This will anchor the mask or mount in position. A film picture section, such as the section 21 is placed over each framing aperture of one leaf and the sprocket apertures of the film picture section are anchored over the pins l6 so that the pins |6 extend through the sprocket apertures of the film picture section. The film picture section or sections will in this manner be firmly anchored in proper registration with the framing apertures. The leaf 23 is preferably coated with adhesive as at 23 and after the adhesive has been moistened the leaf 23 is folded fiat upon the leaf 24 in superimposed relation. The cover It is then closed over the mask or mount l9 and the primary section M of the unit, and pressure is applied to the cover section II. The cover section II is held in a closed position a sufficient length of time to seal the leaves 23 and 24 together and to lock the film picture sections firmly therebetween against accidental dislocation.- Since the pins l6 are yieldably supported they will extend through the perforations Z5 and 26 of the leaf 24 and through the sprocket apertures of the conventional picture film section to anchor the leaf 24 and picture film section or sections in position. A registering and assembly unit for films and mounts therefor comprising a pair of hinged sections, one section being adaptedto be closed upon. the other section to seal a picturemount placed therebetween, a pair of individual spring pressed anchoring pins carried by one section for extending through perforationsvof one leaf of a mount and for extending through the sprocket apertures of a film picture section mounted thereon, and said spring pressed anchoring pins being adapted to yield inwardly independently of each other as a companion leaf of a mount is placed over the first mentioned leaf for sealing to prevent perforation of the companion leaf.
2. A registering and assembly unit for films and mounts therefor comprising a pair of hingedly connected sections, one section being adapted to be closed upon the other to seal a picture mount placed therebetween, a pair of individual spring pressed anchoring pins carried by one sectionand adapted to extend through perforations formed in one leaf of a mount and also adapted to extend through the sprocket apertures of a film picture .sectionito, properly register the film picture section with the framing aperture of a mask, each pin having a substantially flat outer end. the pins being aligned outwardly away from the hinge connection of the sections and adapted' to be progressively depressed as one of said sections is swung from an open to a closed position upon the other section and to avoid accidental dis'-- placement of the film while closing the sections,
and means individually limiting theextension of i tioned leaf while sealing.
