Primarily, the invention contemplates the provision of a holder which is formed from waterproof material and is adapted to receive an absorbent diaper therein, some of the advantages of the invention residing in its simplicity of construction, in its efficient and expeditious operation, and in its adaptability to economical manufacture.

With the above more important objects and features in view and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 2 is a developed plan view thereof;

Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional detail, taken substantially in the plane of the line 3-3 in Figure 2; and

Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional detail, taken substantially in the plane of the line 4-4 in Figure 2.

Like characters of reference are employed to designate like parts in the specification and throughout the several views.

(c1.12s 2s-z) v in detail, the invention consists of a diaper holder which is designated generally by the reference character l0 and embodies in its construction an elongated sheet l2 of flexible, waterproof material, which sheet is provided with a relatively narrow intermediate region [4 so that when the sheet is folded transversely, the region 12 affords a crotch portion and regions of the sheet forwardly and backwardly of the crotch portion constitute front and back walls l6, 18, respectively.

The relatively wide upper edge portions of the walls [6, [8 are overlapped and preferably attached together at the opposite sides of the garment so as to coact with the crotch portion [4 in defining a pair of leg openings, one of the latter being indicated at 20 in Figure 1.

End portions 22, 24 of the sheet 12 are turned inwardly and downw 'rdly fromupper edges of the respective front and back walls l6, l8 and continuous binding 26 is applied to top and side edges of the two walls, so that the end portions 22, 24 coact with the respective walls l6, IS in defining front and rear pockets 28, 33. When the invention is placed in use, end portions of an absorbent diaper 32 may be inserted in these pockets, as indicated in Figure 2, where by the diaper will be effectively supported by the holder. v r

A pair of pull tabs 34, assuming the form of doubled strips of suitable material, are secured to the outer surface at the opposite sides of the upper edge portion of the rear wall [8 by conventional snap fastener elements 36, while similar pull tabs 38 are secured by coacting snap fastener elements 40 to opposite sides of the upper edge portion of the front wall IS.

The pull tabs 34, 38 not only facilitate application and removal of the garment, but also reinforce the garment at points of fastening.

The fastening operation is accomplished by simply overlapping the relatively wide upper edge portions of the walls l6, [8 at the opposite sides of the garment and then engaging the snap fastener elements 36 witheither pair of the snap fastener elements 40, whereby the holder as well as the diaper therein will be dependably sustained in position on the body of an infant without the use of conventional pins. By employing several sets of the fastener elements 4!], the holder may be adjusted so as to accommodate infants of different sizes.

If desired the back wall 18 may be provided with pleats 42 to assure proper fit, and it is to be noted that the folded portions 22, 24 of the sheet l2 have arcuate lower edges 44 to assist in centralizing the diaper 32 in the pockets 23, 30' and prevent the diaper from slipping.
