The purpose. of this invention is to provide a mechanical devicev that holds the different .parts' of the body "in the correct position whereby the correct swing and'follow throughv of a'I'golf a shoulder blade bar and straps adjustably mounted on the arm by which thehea'd engaging element is adjustably attached to the upper end of the post. f v

' The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide a universal mechanical position v holding device for golf playersthat indicates the correct position'of difierent parts of the body.

Another object of the invention is to provide a stance indicator for golf playersthatis readily adjustable to players of different sizes.

A further objectof the invention is to provide a golf player stance positioning device which is of a simple and-"economical construction.

With these 'a'nd other'j'objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a stance indicator having body engaging elements adjustably mounted on a telescoping post and means permitting swinging action of the said body engaging elements as the player swings agolf club.

Referring now to the drawings wherein; like reference characters denote corresponding parts the improved golf player stance positionerof this invention includes a telescoping post having a rod l0 slidable ina tubular base section Ilpa base [2 having laterally extended arms l3 and i i, ahip positioner including padsl5 and [dearried by an .arm l1, a shoulder blade brace 18 carried by an L-shaped arm l9, and a head plate 20.

Onev end of the rod l2 isprovided with a supporting plate 23 and a barZ-A on the opposite end is pro vided with an arcuate shoe 25 that indicates the swing arcof a club. The shoe 25 is attached to the bar 24 by screws 26and 21 and corresponding threadedopenings 28 and 29are provided in. the

opposite'end of the bar whereby the shoe '25 may be positioned on the opposite side for a left hand player, A stance indicating bar 30 ispivotally attached to the base l2 by a screw 3|. This bar is setjto player tjofin'dicate the correct positions ofthefeet.

The arm [1 on which the hip pads l5 and I5 are positioned is pivotally attached through a projection 32 tova horizontally disposed arm or bar '"3 3 by a thumb screw and the bar 33 extends outwardly from atube 35 that is mounted in a yoke having horizontal tubular members 36 ands! and vertically disposed members 38 and 39. The ends of the tube 35 are provided with balls 40 which are positioned in sockets in the ends of cylindrical blocks 4| and 42 and these blocks are resiliently held by springs 43 and 44 whereby the balls are urged to center positions in the horizontal members 36 and 31 of the yoke. The yoke is adjustably mounted on the post 10 by arms 45 and 46 which extend outwardly from a sleeve 41 and the sleeve is secured in position by a thumb screw G8.

The tube 35 on which the hip engaging pads l and it are supported is also provided with L- shaped arms 49 and 59, the outer ends of which are providedwith adjusting screws 5| and 52 and the adjusting screws are positioned to engage the side surfaces of the sleeve 4'! to limit lateral movement of the hips through the hip engaging pads.

The hip engaging pads l5 and it are carriediby arcuate bars 53 in slots 54 in the ends of the. bar. I 1 and the bars 53 are adjustably held by thumb screws 55 that extend through slots 56 therein; The pads are secured to the bars 53 by thumb screws 51 and loops 58 are provided on the ends of the bars for straps 59 and 60, with the strap 60 extended fromv the pad [5 and the strap 59, which is provided with a buckle 6!, extended from the pad [6.

The shoulder blade brace I8 is provided with a socket 62 by which it is adjustably mounted on the end of the L-shaped arm I 3 and the socket is retained on the arm by a cotter pin 63;. The arm [9 is mounted through a'hub at the inner end thereof on a bar 55 and-the hub is provided with a thumb screw 65; The bar 65 is pivotally attached to a bar 5'! by a pin 58 and the bar 61 is slidably mounted in a T-fitting 69 on the upper end of the post Ill, the fitting 69 being provided with a thumb screw in and providing a swivel connection whereby the bar 61. is positioned in different angles in relation to the post Ill.

The head plate 23 is pivotally mounted on the end of the bar Eaiby' frictionally connected arms H and 12 which extend from a hub '12 and the plate is held on the bar 65- by a thumb screw 14. The arms H and 72 are connected by a friction pin 15, and the head plate 25 is connected to the outer end of the arm H by a similar friction pin 15 which is positioned in a lug Tl extended upwardly from the head plate.

The shoulder blade brace I8 is also provided with extensible ends having tips 18 and 19 carried on the ends of bars 80 and BI respectively and the bars are slidably mounted in slots 82 and 83 in the ends of the brace. The bars are adjustably secured in the ends of the brace by thumb screws 84 and 85and the ends of the tips 18 and 19 are provided with eyes 86 and 81' from which straps 88 and 89 extend, respectively.

With the parts arranged in this manner. the stance is adjusted to correspond with the hips,

shoulder blades, and head of a golf player and the parts hold the player in the correct, position for swinging a club, as indicated by the dotted lines 90 to strike a ball as indicated at 9!. The parts have sufiicient freedom of movement to permit natural movement of the difierent parts of the body in making the swing and at the same time prevent the player moving out of position. 1

It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is: v

1. In. a golf player stance positioner, the combination which comprises a telescoping post, a base having afoot positioning bar pivotally mounted thereon and upon which the said post is mounted, an arcuate shoe positioned on the base indicating the line of flight and swing are, a horizontally disposed rectangular shaped frame adjustably mounted on the post, arms having hip engaging padsadjustably mounted on the ends thereof suspended from the said rectangular shape frame, yielding means in the frame providing lateral movement of the hip pad carrying arms, spaced arms extended from said hip pad carrying. arms and positioned to contact the telescoping post to limit lateral movement of the said hip pad carrying arms.

2; In a golf player stance positioner, the combination which: comprises a telescoping post, a base having a foot positioning bar pivotally mounted thereon and upon which the said post is mounted, a horizontally disposed rectangular shaped frame adjustably mounted on the post, a vertically disposed tubular rectangular shaped section carried by said horizontally disposed rectangular shaped frame and spaced from said post, arms having hip engaging pads adjustably mounted on ends thereof suspended from said vertically disposed tubular frames, resilient means in the" tubular elements of the vertically disposed rectangular shaped frame providing lateral movement of the. hip pad carrying arm, and spaced armsextended from. said hip pad carrying arms and positioned to contact the telescoping post to limit lateral movement of the said hip pad. carrying arms;

In a golfplayer stance positioner, the combination which comprises a telescoping post, a base having, a foot positioning bar pivotally mounted thereon and upon which the said post is mounted, a horizontally disposed rectangular shaped frame. adjustably mounted on the post, a vertically disposed rectangular. shaped tubular frame carried. by said horizontally disposed frame, a vertically positioned tube positioned with ends thereof extended into elements of the vertically positioned tubular frame, springs in tubular elements .of the vertically positioned tubular frame for urging the vertically positioned tube to a positionin the center of the frame, arms having hip engaging pads adjustably mounted on extended ends thereof suspended from the vertically disposed tube, said springs providing lateral movement of the hip pad carrying arms, and spaced arms extended from said Vertically disposed tube and. positioned to contact opposite sides of the telescoping post to limit lateral movement of the said vertically disposed tubes and hip pad carrying arms.
