Claims.

This invention relates to a deodorizing device and particularly to a combined deodorizer and holder.

The primary object of this invention is to permit a block composed of a chemical deodorizing composition to be detachably fastened on toilet bowls or other objects without marring the finish thereof and to be installed on the objects in a manner to be hidden from view but still in an effective zone.

Another important object of this invention is to provide an inexpensive and compact deodorizer block and attached holder, the holder being reusable with other blocks.

These and ancillary objects and structural features of merit are attained by this invention, the preferred embodiment of which is set forth in the following description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a toilet bowl with a deodorizer block attached to the underside of the flush tank;

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional View of the block and holder taken on line 22 of Figure 1; and

Figure 3 is a transverse sectional View taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.

With more particular reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein the preferred embodiment of the deodorizer I0 is illustrated, the device includes a block [2, which is molded from a composition composed of paradichloro-benzene, naphthalene and deodorant oils. The block is frusto-conical shaped and has flat end walls I4 and [6. An axially disposed cylindrical opening [8 is formed centrally in one end of the block and extends through the end wall [4.

A holder 20 is mounted in the opening 18 to support the block in a suspended position on various supports and includes a rubber suction cup 22 having a usual concave or recessed face 24. An enlarged cylindrical neck portion 26 is formed integral with the cup and projects outwardly from the rear convex wall 28 thereof. The neck is formed with an axially disposed central socket 30 which is formed with a flared mouth 32.

A frusto-conical connecting member 34 is carried by the block for frictional attachment to the neck portion and has a flat major end 36 and a minor end 38 from which a cylindrical tip 40 axially projects. the block and disposed in the opening and serves as a stem to connect the suction cup to the block. The neck of the cup is press fitted in The member 34 is molded in the opening I8 and the tip 40, which is spaced from the walls of the opening, is frictionally held in the socket 30 with the minor end 38 positioned in themouth 32 of the socket.

The holder is, thus, securely attached to the block to support it in a suspended or raised position on any type of support. One type of support, for illustrative purposes, is illustrated in Figure 1, wherein the cup is attached to the underside of the flush tank 42 of a conventional toilet bowl unit 44. In this manner, the block is located in an effective zone, but is hidden from view.

Of course, the block can be easily attached by means of the suction cup to other objects in any room or zone and, due to the construction of the holder, the block can be detachably fastened in many inaccessible places, either in a raised or suspended position.

Having described the invention, what claimed is:

1. In combination with a molded deodorizer block having an axial opening formed in one end and a member housed in the opening and spaced at its outer end from the walls of the opening and the end wall of the block, a suction cup having a neck portion formed with an axially disposed socket frictionally fitted in the opening in the block and mounted on the outer end of the member.

2. In combination with a molded deodorizer block having an axial opening formed in one end and a connecting member mounted in the opening and terminating at its outer end in a tip spaced from the walls of the opening, a suction cup having a neck portion formed with an axially disposed socket, said neck portion being frictionally fitted in the opening with the tip of the member frictionally received in the socket.

3. In combination, a molded deodorizer block having an axial opening in one end thereof, a suction cup having a neck portion frictionally fitted in the opening, and a connecting stem housed in the opening, said neck portion having an axial socket adapted to frictionally receive the stem.

4. In combination, a molded deodorizer block having an opening in one end thereof, a connecting stem housed in the opening and having an outer tip spaced from the walls of the opening, and a suction cup having a neck portion formed with a socket, said neck portion being frictionally fitted in the opening with the tip of the stem fitted in the socket.

In combination, a molded deodorizer block having an axial opening formed in one end thereof, a connecting member molded into the block and housed Within the opening, said member being frustro-conical in form with the 5 smaller end thereof spaced from said end of the block and from the Wall of the opening, a cylindrical tip formed on said smaller end of the connecting member, and a suction cup having a neck portion formed With an axial socket, said neck portion extending into the opening and having its outer surface frictionally engaged with the wall of the opening, said tip being frictionally engaged Within the socket With the smaller end of the connecting member extending 15 Number to the mouth of said socket.
