Description

J1me 1953 w. E. SCHROEDER 2,641,763
FEMALE BREAST SUPPORT Filed Nov. 5, 1950 INVENTOR WILLIAM E. SGHROEDER ATTORNEY Patented June 16, 1953 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,641,763 FEMALE BREAST SUPPORT William E. Schroeder, Hollywood, Calif.
Application, November 3, 1950, Serial No. 193,779
4 Claims. 1
This invention relates to a breast supporter garment, and the objects of the invention are to provide firm support for sagging or pendulous breasts, and to impart thereto naturally appearing mobility and fullness.
This is a continuation in part of my pending application Serial Number 138,077, filed January 12, 1950, now abandoned.
These and other objects are attained by my invention which will be understood from the following description, reference being made to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a front perspective view of my supporter garment as worn by a woman;
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the same with parts broken away to better show the structure;
Figure 3 is a back plan view of the supporter garment; and
Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on the line 44 of Figure 3.
Referring to the drawings, the preferred form of garment as shown consists of a pair of cups l l and I2 extending forwardly from a body band 13 which is tapered down to end pieces 14 and I5 which are provided with adjustable fastenings such as the eyelets It at one end and the hook I! at the other. Shoulder straps [8 are attached at the center of the upper margins of the cups,
and to the tapered end pieces a little distance pre-selected shape to underlay the underside of the breast and form a wedge-like support abutting the adjacent abdomen underneath the body band I3.
Anchor bands 25 are provided horizontally (in the wearing position of the garment) across the central zone of each of the cups II and l2,v
these bands extending without slack or looseness diametrically across each cup at the open end thereof when the garment is laid out fiat as shown in Figures 3 and 4. In the form shown, a continuous band is provided across the garment, the extended ends 26 and 21 being stitched for strengthening the garment into the opposite upper hems 28 of the tapered end portions of the body band l3, and also being stitched to the opposite margins I9 of both cups H and I2. By the open end of the cups is meant that part which encircles each breast adjacent the trunk of the wearer.
The anchor bands 25 across the two breast cups serve to give support to the under forward portion of the breasts, which because of their pliant structure, are indented by said anchor band and pressed upwardly t-o fill the upper portion of the cups. The combination effect of the filler blocks 24 and the anchor bands gives firm' but comfortable support to the breasts and also imparts thereto naturally appearing fullness and mobility.
I claim: 1. A breast supporter garment comprising a body band having a pair of breast cups formed therein, means to hold shaped resilient filler blocks in the lower portions of said cups, and
filler blocks positioned therein, said filler blocks 7 filler blocks positioned therein, said filler blocks opening of each of said cups, said anchor bands' being adapted to underlaythe breasts of the wearer, and an anchor band disposed in normal horizontal position across the middle zone of the for each cup being attached to theperipheral margins of said 'cup adjacent said opening, and being of lesser length across said cup than the unrestricted opening of said cup in said middle zone.
3. A breast supporter garment comprising a body band having a pair of breast cups formed therein, means to hold shaped resilient filler blocks in the lower portions of said cups, and filler blocks positioned therein, said filler blocks being adapted to underlay the breasts of the wearer, and an anchor band disposed in normal horizontal position across the middle zone of the opening of each of said cups and attached to the peripheral margins of said cups at the opening thereof, and being in length not more than the diameter of said cup at said middle zone.
4. The garment as claimed in claim 1, in which interior pockets are formed in said cups movably hold said filler blocks.
WILLIAM E. SCHR-OEDER.
