Description

June 16, 1953 e. SCHIRO FOOT WASHER Filed Aug. 2, 1951 Patented June 16, 1953 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,641,771 FooT WASHER George Schiro, Chicago, Ill.
7 Application August 2, 1951, Serial No. 239,949
1 Claim.
7 1 This invention relates to new and useful improvements and structural refinements in foot washers, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device of the character herein described, which is well adapted for installation in the nature of a permanent fixture in a bathroom, or the like, to facilitate convenient and expeditious washing of feet.
Some of the advantages of the invention reside in its simplicity of construction, in its eflicient' operation, in its pleasing appearance, and in its adaptability to economical manufacture.
With the above more important objects and features in view, and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of the invention, partially broken away so as to reveal its construction;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view, taken substantially in the plane of the line 2-2 in Figure 3; and
Figure 3 is a rear elevational view of the invention, partially broken away.
Like characters of reference are employed to designate like parts in the specification and throughout the several views.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the invention consists of a foot washer which is designated generally by the reference character It and embodies in its construction a cabinet or enclosure [2 which is provided at the top thereof with a door I4, the door being of an arcuate configuration and engaging a pair of rollers IS in the two front corners of the cabinet, whereby the door may be rolled or shifted downwardly inside the cabinet as indicated at I8 in Figure 2. In its closed position, the door [4 rests upon a pair of flanges 26 at the sides of the cabinet and the rear edge of the door fits into a groove or channel 22 provided at the forward edge of the cabinet back plate or panel 24. The handle of the door is indicated at 26.
The cabinet l2 accommodates a substantially rectangular tub 28 which is supported by suitable legs 30, and the back wall of the tub is formed with a pair of openings to receive the end portion of a substantially U-shaped spraying member 32. The bight portion and side portions of this spraying member are disposed adjacent the front and side walls of the tub 28 and it is to be noted that the spraying member itself is disposed above the bottom of the tub, as is clearly shown in Figure 2.
The spraying member 32'is sustained in position in the tub by having its end portion extended through the apertures in the back wall of the tub as shown at 34 in Figure 2, while the 6 bight portion of the spraying member rests upon the downwardly and inwardly inclined front wall of the tub as shown at 36.
The spraying member 32 is formed with a plurality of outlet apertures or orifices 38, and while one end of the spraying member is provided with a closure or cap 40, the other end of the spraying member is provided with an angular extension 42 which is disposed behind the tub 28 and is connected by a T 44 to hot and cold water pipes 46, 48 respectively. These pipes are provided for purposes of flow as well as temperature control with suitable valves 50, 52 which project upwardly and outwardly through the aforementioned cabinet panel 24 for convenient manipulation.
. The bottom of the tub 23 is equipped with a double drain conduit 54 including the usual trap 56, as will be clearly apparent.
It i believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly understood from the foregoing disclosure and accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.
While in the foregoing, there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having described the claimed as new is:
In a foot washer, the combination of a cabinet including a substantially flat front wall and an upwardly and rearwardly arcuate top wall provided with a substantially rectangular door opening, a tub positioned in said cabinet under said opening, front and rear legs supporting said tub, the front of said tub and the front legs being spaced rearwardly from said front wall, a pair of arcuate flanges provided on said top wall at opposite side edges of said opening, a pair of guide rollers provided in said cabinet adjacent the front ends of the respective flanges, and an arcuate door panel resting on said flanges and on said rollers when in its closed position, said rollers affording a rolling fulcrum for said door panel whereby the latter may be swung forwardly and upwardly and slid downwardly to an open position in the space between said front Wall and said tub, said front legs being engageable with the lower edge of said panel and providing stop means therefor when the panel is in its open position.
