This invention relates to the care of babies and more particularly to a garment which can be used during the feeding of an infant.

It is essential in handling and feeding babies that utmost care be exerted in order to protect them from contact with the clothing or anything from which disease germs might be obtained. The nipple of the bottle must be kept sterile and therefore must not be permitted to come in contact with anything except the mouth of the baby. It is also necessary to prevent the clothing of the baby coming in contact with the body of the person caring for the child.

It is desirable further to protect the clothing of the person caring for the baby from becoming soiled by wetting and burping and to provide apparel which may easily be utilized for promoting efficiency and sanitation in the care of the infant.

It is an object of the invention to provide a sanitary, one-piece garment of soft absorbent material such as for example light terry cloth, which can be worn by the one caring for the baby at feeding time, which will keep the :baby from contact with the clothing of the handler, and at the same time will protect the clothes of the person attending the baby.

Another object of the invention is to provide a garment of the character described having a pocket for holding the babys bottle and ana other for cleansing tissue as well as a garment which can be easily washed, will dry quickly, requires no ironing and which has an adjustable neck and sleeve portions so that it can be worn by anyone regardless of size.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Briefly stated, the invention comprises a biblike garment or apron which can be placed over the front of the user and fastened around the neck with the sides folded to provide sleeves for covering the arms. Snap fasteners are employed for quickly fastening the garment around the neck and at the sleeves and for quick unfastening of the same. The garment is also provided upon its upper portion with a pocket for the reception of a bottle and another for holding cleansing tissue. The pocket for the bottle is located so that when the garment is in use, the bottle carried in the pocket will have its upper end at a height near the shoulder and out of contact with and uncontaminated by the garment and the arms, head, neck or body of the wearer. The garment may easily and quickly be applied and removed, is simple to launder, and is a practical useful garment.

With continued reference to the drawing, the present invention comprises a garment it, with a rounded lower edge I I, straight sides 12 and I3, and a cut-out neck portion Hi. The garment is also provided with a hem [5 or is otherwise bound and reinforced around its edges for obvious reasons.

It is likewise provided with pockets l6 and I7 for the reception of a bottle and cleansing tissues respectively. The pocket It has its upper end suificiently near the cut-out neck portion or high on the garment so that a bottle is contained therein and the upper ends of the bottle a nipple may be carried out of contact with the garment as well as the head and neck of the wearer. Free use of the arms will be possible without contaminating the nipple of the bottle. The pocket for the cleansing tissue likewise is sufiiciently high o the garment so that it will not be in the way when a baby is held in the arms and the tissue will be conveniently accessible.

The garment may also be provided with pleats or tucks 2|] and Z! to improve the fitting about the neck and may have fastening means including male fastener portions 22 and female portions 23 to be engaged to fasten the garment about the neck of the wearer and similar fastener elements may be used to secure the sides of the garment folded over to provide sleeves for the wearer.

At one edge of the garment an additional female fastener element may be added so that the tips of the garment may be fastened together behind the back of the wearer, as shown in Fig. 2.

It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made in the invention without departing from the pirit and scope thereof and therefore the invention is not limited by that which is shown in the drawing and described in the specification but; only as indicated in the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A garment protector for covering the front and arms of the wearer comprising a sheet of flexible material of a length to extend from the neck t the waist of the wearer and having a bottom edg of a length to extend around the body of the wearer, said sheet having converging side edge extending from the bottom edge to the top edge, said top edge being formed of a pair of straight end edge portions connected by an inwardly extending concave arcuate edge portion for receiving the neck of the wearer, tucks formed from the concave arcuate edge toward the lower edge for providing fullness for smoothly-receiving the shoulders, fastening elements for sefastener elements spaced inwardly from the seccuring the juncture of the straight upper edge portions and the concave arcuateedge around the neck of the wearer with the adjacent ma-- terial at the upper edge adapted for covering-the shoulders and a limited portion of the back, second fastener elements at the junctureoffthe side and bottom edge, thirdfastener e1ements..spaced inwardly from the second fastener. elements. 1
