COMBINATION FLAT TISSUE AND ROLL-TYPE PAPER TowEL HOLDERS Filed Aug. 20, 1952 INVENTOR r-s. ZZL
United States Patent COMBINATION FLAT TISSUE AND ROLL-TYPE PAPER TOWEL HOLDERS The present invention relates to a combination fiat tissue and roll-type paper towel holder and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and claimed.
Generally there is provided a device of the character set forth which consists of a casing having a top, a bottom, a rear wall and a pair of side walls. A partition extends horizontally between the side walls and is affixed to the side walls and the rear wall to provide an upper and a lower compartment. Folded flat tissues are adapted to be placed upon the partition member and to be withdrawn one at a time through a convenient opening provided in the top wall therefor. A cover is provided for the upper compartment and is hinged at is upper end to the forward end of the top wall. A cover is provided for the lower compartment and is hinged at its lower end to the lower wall. A pair of brackets is provided for a roll of paper towels and the brackets are afiixed to the lower cover and extend inwardly so that the weight of the paper towels upon the holders will tend to close the lower door. By a novel arrangement, the lower door slightly overlaps the upper door and hence the weight of the towels in the lower compartment acts to hold both of the doors in a normally closed position. A convenient opening is placed in the bottom wall of the container for removal of the towels as desired and the entire device may be screwed or otherwise afiixed to a Wall wherever convenient.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a novel combined flat tissue and roll-type paper towel holder.
Another object of the invention is to provide, in' a device of the character set forth, novel means for maintaining a pair of doors forming a part of the invention in closed condition.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character set forth which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and yet efiective and eflicient in use.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification taken in conjunction with the drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention, and
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, there is shown therein a device of the character set forth comprising a rear wall which may be attached to a building wall 11 by screws 12 or the like. There is also provided a top wall 13 and a bottom wall 14 the first of which is provided with an opening 15 which extends longitudinally therein and the latter being provided with a like opening 16.
Extending inwardly from each side of the door 24 is a roll supporting bracket 26 upon which may be mounted a roll 27 of paper towels while a stack 28 of folded flat tissues may be mounted upon the partition 19. The lower edge of the door 22 is beveled inwardly and downwardly, as indicated at 30 while the upper edge of the door 24 is beveled outwardly and upwardly, as indicated at 31.
In operation, it will be apparent that the device may be loaded by placing a stack of flat tissues in the compartment 20 and that thereafter they may be removed one at a time through the opening 15. It will also be apparent that a roll 27 of paper toweling may be placed upon the brackets 26 and withdrawn through the opening 16 as needed. Likewise it will be apparent that the weight of the roll 27 will act to hold the door 24 in closed position in which position it will abut against the beveled portion 30. of the door 22 to thereby maintain the door 22 likewise in closed position thus making it unnecessary for any separate latching means for the device.
While but one form of the invention has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is: v
In combination, a container having top, bottom, rear and side walls, said container being adapted to being supported upon a vertical wall surface by its rear wall, a horizontal partition extending between the side and rear Walls whereby to divide the container into upper and lower compartments, the upper compartment being adapted to contain over-lapping flat tissue papers and the top wall having an elongated opening through which the fiat tissue papers may be pulled in succession, a vertically extending upper door hinged at its upper edge to the forward edge of said compartment wall and adapted to close the upper compartment and to engage the forward edge of the horizontal partition, said upper door having its lower edge beveled inwardly and downwardly, a vertically extending lower door having its lower edge hinged to the forward edge of the bottom wall and its upper edge beveled upwardly and outwardly, said beveled upper edge of the lower door being engaged with the beveled lower edge of the upper door when both doors are in their closed position, said bottom wall having an elongated opening therein, a towel roll having its free end accessible through the bottom wall opening, a roll supporting bracket mounted upon the inner side of the lower door and said towel roll journaled on said roll supporting bracket whereby the weight of the towel roll and the bracket will maintain the lower door closed and the engagement of the lower door with the upper door maintains the upper door in its closed position.
