An object of the invention is to provide an ear attachment adapted to enclose a piece of perfume saturated cotton or other material.

Another object of the invention is to provide a perfume carrying ear ornament in which the perfume is contained in an absorbent medium securely held internally of the ornament.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the course of the following description considered in conjunction with the attached drawing, n which:

Referring now to the drawings in more detail, the illustrated devices comprise a back plate 1 and a bowlshaped container 2 arranged in face-to-face relation with respect to the back plate 1, which is movable into and out of closing relation to the bowl 1. Specifically, in the forms of the invention shown in Figures 1 to 7 inelusive the back plate 1 is connected at one side to the container 2 by means of a hinge 3 and is provided with a catch 4 engageable in an appropriately shaped indentation 5 in the outer side of the container 2. In the forms of the invention shown in Figures 8 to 12, inclusive, the back plate 1 is completely separable from the container 2 and is connected thereto by catches 6 which engage conforming indentations in opposite sides of the edge of the container 2.

A plurality of prongs 7 project from the inner side of the back plate 1 and are adapted to impale a perfume saturated body 8. The prongs may be constituted by turned-up portions of a plate secured to the back plate, as shown in Figures 2, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 or they may be stamped out of the back plates, as shown in Figures 6 and 7. Although the drawings show the prongs as carried by the back plate 1, they may, as readily, be located upon the inner face of the container 2. One or more apertures 9 are provided in the plate 1 or the member 2, and may be provided in both, for the egress of the perfume therethrough. In Figures 8 and 11 the apertures 9 are part of a decorative detail stamped upon the member 2.

A means for engaging the lobe of a human ear is connected to the plate 1 or to the member 2, and, consists of an ear clamp comprising a U-shaped member 11 and a screw 12 threadably engaged in one leg of the U-shaped member 11 adjacent its free end, the screw having an enlarged portion 13 upon the end within the member 11, adapted to press an ear lobe inserted in the member 11, tightly against the other leg to clamp the member 10 firmly to the ear. The plate 1 or the member 2 may be hingedly connected to a projection or the other leg of the member 10, as shown in Figure 2, or the other leg of the member 10 may be made integrally with the plate 1 as shown in Figure 10.

To prepare the attachment of the present invention for use, the backing plate 1 is hinged to its open position, as shown in Figure 4, or is completely detached from the member 2 if the form of the invention shown in Figures 8 to l2 inclusive is in use, and a piece of cotton, or a body of other absorbent material, saturated with perfume, is engaged upon the prongs 7. The plate 1 is then returned to the closed position and the attachment is ready to be connected to an ear by means of the clamp 10. While the attachment is being worn the scent of the perfume escapes through the apertures 9. When the perfume has evaporated from the cotton, the attachment may be readily opened and the cotton replaced by a newly saturated piece in the manner just described.

What is claimed is:

1. In combination, a bowl-shaped container having a peripheral edge, an open side, and an inner face, a flat back plate having a peripheral edge and an inner side, said back plate normally closing the open side of the container with the inner side of the back plate in the region of its peripheral edge engaging the peripheral edge of the container, at least one of said container and back plates being provided with aperture means within the peripheral edge thereof, means releasably mounting said back plate on said container in the closed position of the back plate, prong means on said back plate and projecting inwardly beyond the inner side thereof into said container, and a liquid saturated body within said container and impaled upon said prong means.

In combination, a bowl-shaped contained having a peripheral edge, an open side, and an inner face, a flat back plate having a peripheral edge and an inner side, said back plate normally closing the open side of the container with the inner side of the back plate in the region of its peripheral edge engaging the peripheral edge of the container, at least one of said container and back plate being provided with aperture means within the peripheral edge thereof, means releasably mounting said plate, prong means on said back plate and projecting inwardly beyond the inner side thereof into said container, and a liquid saturated body within said container and impaled upon said prong means, said prong means comprising a plurality of prongs.

In combination, a bowl-shaped container having a peripheral edge, an open side, and an inner face, a at back plate having a peripheral edge and an inner side, said back plate normally closing the open side of the container with the inner side of the back plate in the region of its peripheral edge engaging the peripheral edge of the container, at least one of said container and back plate being provided with aperture means within the peripheral edge thereof, means releasably mounting said plate, prong means on said back plate and projecting inwardly beyond the inner side thereof into said conrainer, and a liquid saturated body within said container and impaled upon said prong means, said prong means comprising a plurality of prongs, arranged in spaced and opposed relation across the back plate, opposed ones of the prongs having terminals directed toward each other.

In combination, a bowl-shaped container having a peripheral edge, an open side, and an inner face, a at back plate having a peripheral edge and an inner side, said back plate normally closing the open side of the container with the inner side of the back plate in the regien of its peripheral edge engaging the peripheral edge of the container, at least one of said 15 container and back plate being provided with aperture means within the peripheral edge thereof, means releasposmon' of closed said back plate on said container in the the back plate, prong means on said back plate and projecting inwardly beyond the inner side thereof into said container, and a liquid saturated body within said container and impaled upon said prong means, said prong means comprising a plate secured to the inner side of the back plate, and at least one prong on said plate projecting from said plate.
