SEAMLESS COVER FOR OFFSET PRINTING DAMPENER Filed June 18, 1954 FuM/HIKO KAMEDA United States Patent SEAMLESS COVER FOR OFFSET PRINTING DAlVIPENER Fumihiko Kameda, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, Japan Application June 18, 1954, Serial No. 437,720
1 Claim. (Cl. 66-170) The present invention relates to a seamless cover for oilset printing dampener roller in which pile yarns of two or more comparatively fine, weakly twisted cotton yarns are joined with the base yarns of the cloth knitted tubular, said base yarns being composed of two or more comparatively thick, strongly twisted cotton yarns, the said pile yarns that are composed of the weakly twisted cotton yarns are pulled out to form loop portions in a comparatively long length at each joint, and the said loops are cut at their bent ends to form a smooth, uniform, velvet-like surface over the entire top surface of the said cloth.
In the drawings wherein an embodiment of this invention is shown, Fig. 1 is a perspective partially sectional view of the roller cover b of this invention pulled on a dampener roller e, Fig. 2 is a plan view of the material showing the construction of the roller cover, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary View of a part of the material shown in Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings, pile yarns c composed of two or more comparatively thin, weakly twisted cotton yarns 2 are added to the base yarns a of the cloth which is knitted tubular with the said base yarns a composed of two 2,804,7 62 Patented Sept. 3, 1957 lCQ or more comparatively thick, strongly twisted cotton yarns 1. At each mesh is formed a loop portion d by pulling out said pile yarn c that is composed of the thin, weakly twisted cotton yarns 2. These loops are formed to a comparatively long length and are cut at their bent ends 3. This naps the entire top surface of the said cloth to form a smooth, uniform, velvet-like surface. In view of this construction, it is difiic-ult for the pile fibers to come out and fall ofi. This product is washable in water. Its velvet-like base portion is a thick layer, thus possessing remarkable water absorbing and retaining qualities as well as being soft and having much elasticity. Accordingly, the printing plate contacts softly, thereby enabling the plate being used to maintain a long life of service. Also, even if a highly sticky ink such as a quick drying ink is used, there is no fear of the pole fibers coming ofi due to the cohesive power of the ink being used. This product can also be used satisfactorily for high-speed printing. Thus, many advantages are brought about in printing.
What I claim is:
A seamless cover for offset printing dampener roller in which pile yarns of two or more comparatively fine, weakly twisted cotton yarns are joined with the base yarns of the cloth knitted tubular, said base yarns being composed of two or more comparatively thick, strongly twisted cotton yarns, the said pile yarns that are composed of the weakly twisted cotton yarns are pulled out to form loops in a comparatively long length at each joint, and the said loops are cut at their bent ends to form of smooth, uniform velvet-like surface over the entire top surface of the said cloth.
