To all whom it may concern.
a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented Improvements in Hand-Bags or Satchels, of
which the following is aspecification.
The object of my invention is to make a cheap and serviceable hand-bag or satchel, especially intended as a book-bag for school children; and this object I attain in the manner hereinafter set forth, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a satchel made in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 a view showing another form of handle for the satchel.
The satchel comprises a bag,.A, of any desired size or shape, and of any appropriate textile fabric. Near the upper edge of the bag, on each side, are formed perforations b, protected by eyelets, and through these eyeleted perforations are passed cords d, the ends of which are secured by metallic fastenings f, Be itknownthat I, THEODORE A. thus forming loop handles by which the satchel may be conveniently, carried.
.- The satchel can be thus made very cheaply, and is strong and serviceable, these qualities rendering it especially available as a book-bag for school children;
I claim as my invention An improved book bag or satchel, comprising the bag A, providedwith eyeleted edge perforations, b, and cord handles d, passing through such perforations, and having their ends secured by metallic fastenings, all sub- 5 stantially asset forth.
