2 Claims. (Cl. 4632) This invention relates to an infants dressing table toy,

with more particular reference to the type of dressing table used in conjunction with an infants combination bath stand and dressing table, and has for its purpose to afford a toy, device mounted upon the dressing table and positionablevto amuse and entertain an infant while lying on the dressing table.

A more particular purpose of the invention is to aiford a structure that can be economically manufactured and which is readily foldable to a horizontal position overlying the dressing table or to an upright position where it is easily accessible to an infant lying on the dressing table, with releasable means for retaining the toy in such vertical position.

Still another object of the invention is to provide a toy device embodying a generally U-shaped wire or yieldable supporting frame having arms which are removably engageable with side walls of the dressing table and include bent locking portions engageable with recesses in the walls of the dressing table to hold the toy device in.

To these and other ends, the invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts that will appear clearly from the following description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, the novel features being pointed out in the claims following the specification.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of an infants dressing table incorporating a preferred embodiment of the invention and showing the toy supporting frame in full lines in folded position, and in dotted lines in its upright or vertical position;

Fig. 2 is a partial view in side elevation of the parts shown in Fig. l, the toy supporting frame appearing in full lines in folded position and in dotted lines in upright vertical position;

Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction indicated, and showing the toy supporting frame in full lines in folded position, and in dotted lines in upright or vertical position;

Referring more particularly to the drawings in which like reference numerals refer to the same parts throughout the several views, 1 designates a conventional type of dressing table such as employed in an infants combination bath stand and dressing table, the dressing table including upwardly bent inner side or marginal walls 2 United States Patent 0 ice 2 connected by a curved top portion 3 with a downwardly bent outer wall 4 that is spaced from the wall 2 as shown in Fig. 5. g

The inner wall 2 on both sides of the dressing table is provided with a circular opening and a narrow slot 5 on opposite sides thereof, also a wide elongated slot or opening 6, for purposes that will appear more clearly presently, and the toy device comprises a generally U-shaped stifi wire or flexible supporting frame including side arms 7 terminating in angular portions 8, and connecting end portion 9, while 10 designates a preferably rubber or elastic cord connected to the side arms 7 and having a variety of toys 11 suspended and rotatable therefrom as shown in Fig. 1.

The side arms 7 have outwardly bent ends 12, each of which is provided with opposite arranged outwardly extending lugs 13, the lugs 13 being of a width that permits them to pass through the slot 5 when the arm is in a predetermined position, and after being positioned as shown in Fig. 5 between the inner and outer side walls, the lugs 13 prevent the ends 12 from being withdrawn from the inner side wall 2 of the table except when in the predetermined position aforementioned.

The toy supporting frame is of such a yieldable character that the side arms 7 spring apart when released and assume the position shown in Fig. 5, the toy supporting frame being swingablefrom its horizontal position as shown in Fig. 5 to the vertical position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 and full lines in Fig. 4. The side arms are maintained in such vertical position by the 'bent retaining portions 14 formed in the angular portion 8, and engaging in the elongated slots or openings 6 in the side walls 2, as shown in Fig. 4, and thus hold the toy supporting frame in its upright or vertical position.

The toy supporting frame can be swung from its horizontal position shown in full lines in Fig. 1 to its vertical position by moving the frame upwardly, during which movement the bent retaining portions 14 will ride downwardly over the curved portions 3 of the walls 2, forcing the spring arms 7 inwardly until the bent portions 14 spring into the openings 6, and in this position the toy supporting frame is securely held in its upright position.

To release thetoy supporting frame and move it to its folded or horizontal position, it is only necessary to grasp the side arms 7 and press them slightly toward each other sufficiently to withdraw the bent retaining portions 14 from the slots 6, whereupon the toy supporting frame can be swung downwardly against the table. If it is desired to remove the toy supporting frame completely from the table, the frame is swung until the lugs or projections 13 of the ends 12 are alined with the slots 5 in side wall 2, and the spring arms can then be pressed inwardly toward each other until the terminal portions 12 are entirely clear of the side walls 2, and the toy supporting frame can then be removed from the table.

While the invention has been described with reference to the particular construction shown, it is not restricted to the details herein disclosed, and this application is intended to cover such modifications or departures as may come within the purposes of the improvement and the scope of the following claims.

I claim:
