Accompanying this speciiication and l'orrning a part of it are two plates oi' drawings, containing three figures, illustrating my invention, with the same designation of parts by letter-reference used in all of them, and of Which- Figure l shows a perspective of the device 3o looselyr threaded onto the rope, but not con nected by means of the securing ring and spur. Fig. 2 shows a perspective of the device attached to the rope by means of the spur and securingring. Fig. 3 shows a completed halter containing my invention.

The several parts of'the device are desig- Mnated by letter reference, and their applied function explained as follows:

The letter P indicates a plate having a con- 40 cave interior surface, C', a convex exterior surface, C2, and with an extension, l, that is obtusely beveled in the line of its projection from that containing its concave and convex surfaces. with au opening, O, so that a rope threaded through the latter is in a position to be encircled by the rounded-out plate to the extent of its Width.

The letter F indicates a feather projection 5o on the convex face of the plate, made to have an abrupt termination a; and R designates a ring provided with a groove, G, for the passage of said feather when the ring is slipped on over the plate P" This beveled extension is made (No model.)

The letter S indicates a spur formed on the inwardly-rounded surface C, and E au eye formed on the end of the beveled extension.

The device thus nrade is connected to the rope in the following manner: The rope A is threaded through the opening O, and the rounded-out part of the plate P pressed down 4over and around the rope, with the spur S entered into the latter, and With the ring R passed on over the end of the plate by means of the groove G, and the ring turned until its edge abuts against the abrupt termination a, cf the feather F. This rnily secures the device to the rope and ou line of attachment nearly parallel tothe latter, in which positionl the eye E is adapted to connect with a snaphook on the end of the rope, and thus produce the halter lead-loop.

ln a former patent granted to me October 11, 1883, No. 286,808, for a device having the saine use, a semi-cylinder provided with a hook to secure the rope, a spur to enter and hold the latter, and an opening for its pasvrope is passed is dispensed with, and a grooved ring and feather are employed to secure the parts, instead of the hook.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,

In a halteraope buckle, the combination of a plate having an interior concave and an exterior convex surface, a spur on the concave interior of the plate, an elongated extension of said plate that is beveled obtusely from the rounded-out part thereof on its projection therefrom, an eye on the end of said extension, an elongated opening i n said extension adapted for the passage of the halter-rope, a feather made with an abrupt termination and constructed on the exterior of the rounded-out part, and a ring made with a groove for the passage of said ring over said feather, plate, and included rope, in the manner and for the purposes herein set forth.
