ADJUSTABLE SHELF-PARTITION.

SPECIFICATION forming part. of Letters Patent No. 302,624, dated July 29, 188%.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARTIN H. DICKINSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Shelf- Iartitions, of which the following is a specifi-, cation, reference being had therein to the ac coinpanying drawings.

This invention relates to an improved adi ustable shelf-partition and sample-holder, and it is specially designed for the use of dealers in paper-hangings, although it will be found useful to others for various purposes.

The object of the invention is to provide a partition which may be applied to any shelf or series of shelves, and which may be moved or adjusted to any position, so as to form spaces or cribs of convenient size, as occasion may require. These objects I attain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a series of shelves, showing my improved partitions applied thereto. Fig. 2 represents a front elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 repre sents a perspective view of one of the partitions detached.

as to form abase upon which the partition may It will be seen that as thus constructed the partitions will be sell'supporting, and that the main portions will stand securely in a vertical position, and that they can be moved upon the shelves, so as to regulate the width of the intervening spaces or cribs to accommodate the quantity and quality of the goods stored therein, so that every particle of space maybe utilized, and as the goods are disposed of may be contracted, leaving unbroken shelving, which can be filled with other material in place of unsightly empty spaces. By the use of these adjustable shelves it is apparent that just the room necessary may be made for any desired quality of goods, nomatter of what quantity, thus preventing waste, and giving the shelving at all times a neat and uniform appearance.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

An adjustable sh'elf-partition consisting of a sheet of metal split, cut, or divided at its lower portion, the cut portions being bent at right angles to the nncut'portion, so as to form a base for the uncut portion, to support it in a vertical position, substantially as specified.
