(Cl. 1501) This invention relates to the packing and transportation of commodities and the equipment employed and particularly to containers for personal effects, including articles appropriate for particular uses or occasions.-
The invention relates specifically to a receptacle'of general utility which can be used in extended suspended position or can be folded and rendered more compact for traveling and moving the articles from one place to another.
Containers of many shapes and sizes have been provided'for holding articles of various kinds including bags which can be used in extended or in folded condition however prior devices have been awkward to handle, complicated, expensive, and otherwise have failed to meet and satisfy the requirements.
It is an object of the invention to provide a practical bag of simple and inexpensive construction suitable for holding articles of various kinds, including wearing apparel, sporting equipment, and the like, in extended or compact condition and having means by which it can be easily fastened into a small package, and with handles by which it can be readily supported in either of such conditions whether for transportation or in a fixed location.
Another object of the invention is to provide a container for golf or other sporting accessories or personal belongings with roomy pockets of varying dimensions, and which device can be readily folded when used for transportation of articles without the necessity of bothersome packing and unpacking, and when folded constituting a smart compact carrying case no larger than a valise and which can be suspended on a locker door or the like and thereby be of substantial value and assistance and time saving to the user.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 5, a similar view illustrating the manner of application of the device to a locker door;
FIG. 6, a vertical section on line d-6 of FIG. and
FIG. 7, an enlarged fragmentary detail perspective.
Briefly stated, the invention is a bag, container or receptacle for holding articles of various kinds and comprising a generally rectangular sheet with a series of pockets of narrower width disposed lengthwise centrally thereof so that the side edges of the sheet can be folded over the pockets and the ends of the device can be brought together to form a compact package for transportation or storage, the corners of the sheet being provided with tiestrings and the ends of the sheet being provided with fastening straps. The pockets are of graduated size from one end of the sheet to the other and with the smaller the present invention comprises a rectangular sheet 19 of a durable moisture-resistant material which may include surfaces of any desired character and decoration. In order to secure the parts in either of two folded positions either inside out or the reverse, they are provided with cooperating male and The separable fasteners 14 and 15 are located respectively on the exteriorof the sheet inwardly from one side edge and on the interiorof the sheet along the opposite side edge so that such edges may be overlapped and fastened together.
The sheet 10- is provided with a flap 16 at one end having slots 17 in its base (FIG. 7) and a couple of female detachable fasteners 13, which flap is adapted to be extended over the opposite end of the sheet and be secured to a couple of male detachable elements 19, so that the sheet is then folded upon itself to half its original length.
A pair of straps 20 are fixed to the exterior of the end portion of the sheet adjacent the flap, with such straps being provided with snap fasteners 21 at their ends and with attaching rings 22 attached to straps 23 at the other end of the sheet to assist in securing the device folded with the opposite ends of the device incontiguous relation. A handle 2-iis provided having loops 25 at each may be gripped for transporting the bag.
Along the inner surface of the sheet extending from the end to which thefiaps are attached, are pockets-for holding articles, the top pocket 26 being provided with a closure fastener such as a zipper 2'7 and which may include small articles and beneath which are three additional pockets or compartments 2% side by side, beneath which there is an additional larger pocket 29 open at its top and beneath which are a pair of pockets or compartments 3i) with a closure flap 31 and conventional cooperative male andrfemale snap fasteners 33 and 32, respectively, for securing the flap 31 in closed position.
These pockets or compartments may be used for any desired article such as, for example, in the top pocket 26, keys, wallets, golf balls and tees, smokers articles and the like. The next row of three succeeding pockets or compartments 28 may be used for toilet articles, handkerchiefs, socks, jewelry or the like, while the next succeeding large pocket 29 may hold an extra sweater, raincoat or other articles of apparel, while the two pockets 3i underneath the latter may be used to hold larger articles such as shoes, beverage bottles and other items.
Thus a bag is provided of general utility, the pockets of which may be filled, the sides folded over and fastened, the ends folded over and fastened, and the device conveyed to the locker room of a golf club, for example, whereupon the straps may be disconnected and the straps at the top or near the flap may be inserted through the slots 17 at the base of the flap 16 and the snap hooks 21 at the ends caught in the louvers of a locker door and 1. A bag for the holding of articles in readily accessible position and capable of being folded and secured in folded condition for the convenient transportation of such articles, said bag comprising a generally rectangular sheet having ties at one side edge at the corners and additional ties inwardly of the corners of the other side edge,
spaced fasteners on the exterior inwardly from one side edge of the sheet and on the interior along the opposite side edge of the sheet whereby such side edges may be overlapped and fastened together, an extension flap centrally at one end of the sheet having spaced strap receiving slots along the base of the same, spaced cooperating fasteners on the interior of said flap and on the exterior of the opposite end of the sheet whereby the sheet can be folded and secured in such folded condition, fastening straps on one end of the sheet, straps on the opposite end of the sheet for engagement with the first straps, a handle connected to said fastening straps, said straps adapted to be inserted through the slots in the base of said flap, means on the straps for suspending the device and simultaneously holding the flap in elevated position, and a series of compartments centrally lengthwise along one surface of said sheet from said flap.

A device of the character described, comprising a generally rectangular sheet having ties at one side edge at the corners and additional ties inwardly of the corners of the opposite side edge, spaced sets of separable fastening elements on the exterior along one side edge of said sheet, cooperating fastening elements on the interior inwardly from the opposite side edge of the sheet whereby such side edges may be overlapped and fastened together, an extension flap centrally at one end of the sheet having fasteners on the inside thereof and cooperative fasteners on the exterior of the sheet adjacent the opposite end so that when the sheet is folded the fasteners may be engaged, fastening straps secured on said sheet adjacent to said flap, said flap having slots at the base through which said straps are insertable, such straps having hook fasteners at their free ends, anchorage members at the opposite end of said sheet and adapted to be engaged by said hook fasteners, a handle having a loop at each end through which said straps are disposed, said straps being adapted to be inserted through the slots at the base of said flap and engaged on a support for suspending the device, and a series of compartments disposed centrally lengthwise along one surface of said sheet from said flap.
3. A device of the character described, comprising a sheet having ties at one side edge and additional ties inwardly from the opposite side edge of the sheet whereby such side edges may be overlapped and fastened together, an extension flap intermediate the side edges at one end of said sheet, cooperating fasteners on the opposite end of the sheet and said flap so that when the sheet is folded the fasteners may be engaged, fastening straps secured on said sheet adjacent to said flap, such straps having hook fasteners at their free ends, anchorage members at the opposite end of said sheet and adapted to be engaged by said hook fasteners, a handle having a loop at each end through which said straps are disposed, and a series of compartments disposed centrally lengthwise along one surface of said sheet from said flap.
