Baker, 139 Davis Court, San Antonio, Tex. Filed Apr. 22, 1960, Ser. No. 24,033 4 Claims. (Cl. 128-232) This invention relates to a vaginal sanitation apparatus. More particularly it relates to cleansing the vagina of unwanted fluids such as are present following marital relations and cessation of menstrual periods. It is especially suitable for fastidious women in traveling on trains and in places where toilet facilities and running water are unavailable.

Vaginal sanitation in accordance with the invention is provided by a kit small enough to be carried in a womans handbag which consists of sterile pads of absorbent material of conical shape hollowed with a string attached; a conical injector of pliable rubber hollowed to form a cavity allowing manual manipulation within the vaginal orifice, with a protruding annulus near the outer top with foramens at the top and sides forming channels into the inner cavity, the shape fanning into a flat circular lip at the base with grooves just above the lip around the interior and with grooves about the outer surface of the lip; a plastic bottle of pliable consistency containing liquid suitable for vaginal cleansing, also having grooves on the outer surfaces of the neck of the bottle to fit into the injector; and a cap to fit over the injector of similar shape as the injector with grooves on the inner edge so that the injector when not in use may be covered to keep it free from contamination.

The invention has for its object convenience of use in vaginal sanitation in any place of privacy. It may be used in a prone, sitting or standing position. It can in many cases eliminate the use of artificial contraptions, suppositories, jellies and douches. The method of vaginal cleansing used in connection with this invention is quick, painless and efiicient.

Immediately following marital relations the conical pad is placed over the top of the injector with the string falling through the top forarnen, through the canal and cavity of the injector with the string falling below the base of the injector and hooked over the finger of the user. Liquid from the plastic bottle is poured over the conical pad and the pad and injector are inserted into the vaginal orifice. The injector is then pressed against the sides of the vagina by inserting the finger into the cavity of the injector and gently manipulating the injector so that the protruding annulus is against the cervix and the vaginal walls, the liquid in the pad thus mingling with the unwanted fluids so that the fluids are absorbed by the pad and the excess runs through the foramens of the injector into the cavity of the injector. The injector and the pad are withdrawn and the process repeated twice. Liquid from the plastic bottle is used to rinse the injector. The injector is then screwed onto the neck of the plastic bottle and again inserted into the vagina. By gently squeezing the plastic bottle the remaining liquid is forced into the vagina and the releasing of the pressure on the bottle causes the fluid to 'be returned to the bottle. The pads are disposable and may be replenished as refills are needed.

These and other objects of the invention will become more apparent from the following description and claims when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:

FIG. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the conical pad fitted over the injector showing the attachment and placing of the string through the top foramen and canal of the injector and dropping through the cavity of the injector.

FIG. 2 is a side view of the injector showing the protruding annulus and the cap of the injector.

FIG. 3 is the longitudinal sectional view of the injector fitted over the plastic bottle.

FIG. 4 is the side view of the conical pad showing the string connection.

FIG. 5 is the bottom into the cavity.

The vaginal sanitation apparatus consists of several parts which include a conical pad 6 with a string '7 attached from the top of the pad passing through the cavity of the pad which is fitted over the injector 8 and dropped through the top foramen 11 through the canal of the injector and into the cavity 19 of the injector and extending below the injector. The injector 8 is of pliable rubber of conical shape, hollowed to form a cavity 19 sufiicient for manual manipulation, with foramens 11 at the top and sides forming canals extending through to the cavity of the injector. The protruding annulus 9 extends outward from the injector immediately below the top center foramen 11. The injector fans out at the base to form a flat circular lip 10. At the bottom of the cavity are grooves 12 allowing the injector to screw into the grooves 16 of the plastic bottle '15. At the edge of lip 10 are grooves 14 which fit into grooves 18 of cap 13. The plastic bottle 15 is shown in position when in use containing the liquid 17 and screwed into the injector 8. The injector cap 13 is shown fitted over the injector 8 with the protruding annulus 9 with grooves 18 fitted into grooves 14 of the injector.

Various changes coming within the spirit of my invention may suggest themselves to those skilled in the art and hence I do not wish to be limited to the specific embodiment shown or uses mentioned except to the limit indicated in the following claims which are to be interpreted as broadly as the state of the art will permit.

I claim:

1. In a vaginal sanitation apparatus described and in combination pads of absorbent material of conical shape each hollowed to form a cavity with a string attached in a manner to secure the pad from the top of the pad to the inner top of the cavity of the pad so that it may be entirely withdrawn from the vagina without leaving particles therein; a vaginal injector of conical shape 'with a cavity suflicient for manual manipulation and with a foramen at the top of the injector forming a channel for the string from the pad, and other foramens at the sides of the injector and an annular ridge protruding from the top of the injector below the top forarnen and said injector fanning at the base with ridges forming grooves at the periphery and with grooves on the inner surface around the inner lower part of the cavity; and a plastic bottle with grooves at the outer neck portion of the bottle to screw into the inner grooves of the injector.

In a vaginal sanitation apparatus described and in combination conical pads of absorbent material with a string attached from the top of each pad to the top of the cavity of the pad, and a vaginal injector of conical shape with a top foramen at the top allowing the string attached to a pad fitted over said injector to fall through the center channel of the injector below the base of the injector; said injector being of pliable rubber with a cavity sufiicient to admit an adult female finger for manual manipulation with foramens at the top and sides forming channels from the cavity of the injector to the outer surface of the injector, said channels permitting injection of fluids into the vaginal orifice as well as suction of fluids from the vaginal orifice, with a protruding annulus below the top foramen around the outside periphery of the injector, said injector fanning at the base into a lip with grooves at the outer edge and with grooves at the base plan view of the injector looking 3 of the cavity for screwing onto a plastic bottle, containing liquid.

In a vaginal sanitation apparatus described a vaginal injector of hollowed conical shape with a foramen at the top allowing a string from a conical hollowed absorbent pad to fall through the cavity below the tanning base of the injector, with a protruding annulus about the outside periphery of the injector below said top foramen and with other foramens at the sides of the injector acting as channels for fluid from the cavity of the injector to the outside of the injector and with grooves around the inside of the cavity at the base allowing a plastic bottle to be screwed into the base of the cavity of the injector, and with grooves at the tanning base or lip of the injector.

In a vaginal sanitation apparatus in combination a pad of conical hollowed shape with a string attached from the top of the pad to the top of the cavity of the pad placed over a conical hollowed vaginal injector with a top forarnen forming a channel through which the string drops into the cavity of the injector and below the base of the injector; said injector having a protruding annulus on the outside periphery below the top foramen, and other foramens at the sides forming channels to the cavity of the injector, with grooves at the base of the cavity allowing a plastic bottle filled with suitable liquid for cleansing the vagina to be screwed into the injector and with grooves at the outside base or lip of the injector allowing a cap of the shape to correspond with the conical shape of the injector to be screwed over the injector, said cap having grooves at its base so that the injector may be covered when not in use to keep it sanitary and free from contamination.
