Description

Jan. 7, 1964 J. J. cAHlLL nIsPosABLE HAND CARE GLovE Filed March '7, 1962 F'IG.
FIG-Z Il if Il Il INVENTOR. JOHN J. CAH/LL BY f? A TTOR/VEV United States Patent O 3,116,732 DISPUSABLE HAND CARE GL01/E John l. Cahill, 83` Miami Trail, Rockaway, NJ. Filed Mar. 7, 1962, Ser., No. 178,166 3 Claims. (Cl. 128-26tl) My present invention relates to a disposable hand care glove designed in such a way as to provide a self contained supply of a hand treatment vehicle i.e. cosmetic and/or medicated cream lotion, liquid, or balm.
Another object of the present invention is to provide protection for the hand treatment vehicle in order to extend the time during which the treatment vehicle is in contact with the hands or chapped areas of the hands, eg. during sleeping hours, than is possible if the hand treatment vehicle is applied to the hands but left unprotected.
Another object of the present invention is to contain the hand treatment vehicle, thereby providing protection from staining or in any way soiling any items, eg. bedclothng, which might otherwise be soiled if a hand treatment vehicle were used but not covered by the glove.
Further obejcts of the present invention will become apparent upon reading the following specication and referring to the accompanying drawings in which similar characters of reference represent corresponding parts in each of the several views.
FIGURE 1 is a top plan view of an embodiment of the present invention, with possible locations for the hand treatment reservoirs shown in broken line.
FIGURE 2 is a cross sectional view taken on line Il-Il of FIGURE 1, in the direction of the arrows.
The outside layer 1 of the illustrated embodiment of the present invention is of plastic or the like to provide leakproof qualities, and can cover the entire outer surface of the glove. An inner glove layer 2, made of porous material, such as paper or the like, but joined (laminated) to the outer layer, can cover the entire inner surface of the glove. The hand treatment vehicle reservoirs 3 are located between the inner and outer glove layers, are of plastic or the like and have openings 4 to and through the inner glove layer. Such openings 4 are each initially covered with or closed by a membrane 5 of paper or the like, adapted to be ruptured when suitable pressure is applied for that purpose to the outer layer of the glove. However, it will be understood that, by virtue of such construction, the material in the reservoirs 1'" llh/ZBZ ce Patented Jan. 7, 1.964
is kept sealed and the glove interior dry until the glove is applied to a hand, which may also be dry, and one or more of the reservoirs intentionally ruptured to etfect a desired application of the hand-treatment vehicle to affected parts. Such parts are usually the knuckles and adjacent areas on the back of the hand, as illustrated.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as delined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new, and desire to secured by United States Letters Patent is:
1. A disposable hand-care glove comprising an outer layer of leak-proof material, an inner layer of porous material and a plurality of reservoirs of a hand-treatment vehicle disposed between said outer and inner layers and each having an opening directed inward to an aperture in said inner layer, each of said openings being initially closed by a membrane adapted to be ruptured after application of the glove to a hand, to effect a discharge of said hand-treatment vehicle therefrom to parts of the hand needing treatment, but to be kept intact, thereby keeping the inside of the glove dry and preserving the vehicle, until use thereof is desired and thus not interfering with application of the glove to the hand.
2. A disposable hand-care glove as recited in claim l, wherein the outer layer is constructed of plastic and the inner layer and the membranes are of paper.
3. A disposable hand-care glove as recited in claim 1, wherein the reservoirs are so positioned that the vehicle therein may be directed to the knuckles and adjacent parts of the back of a hand.
