Description

Feb. 23, 1965 F. D. CICATELLO 3,170,158
UTILTY CABINETS FOR TOILETS Filed June 24. 1963 INVENTOR.
' assembled; and
United States Patent a 3,170,168 UTILITY QABENE'IS FUR TGILE'IS Frank D. 'Cicatelle, 111 Norden $1., taten Island 4 NY. Filed lane 24, 1963, Ser. No. 210,98 1 filaim. (Cl. 4-1) My invention relates to bathroom accessory and/or utility cabinets.
It is an object of my invention to provide new and improved cabinets of the character indicated which can be secured interchangeably :to either the left hand or the right hand side of the water tank of a toilet.
Another object is to provide new and improved cabinets of the character indicated which can be manufactured easily and inexpensively.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of my invention will now be explained with reference both to this specification and to the drawings wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of my invention;
FIGURE 2 is a cross section through 22 of FIG- URE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of a cabinet partially in cross section as used in FIGURE 1; 7
FIGURE 4 is an exploded view of the hanger brackets;
FIGURE 5 is a side view of the hanger'brackets as FIGURE 6 is a perspective view of another cabinet as usable in FIGURE 1.
Referring now to FIGURES l-S, there is shown a toilet 1b having a water tank 12 having a removable top cover 14. Secured to the left side 16 of tank 12 are two cabinets 13 and Ztl stacked one above the other. A single cabinet 22 is secured to the right side 24 of tank 12.
Each of the cabinets is provided with a horizontal slot 26 which can be in one or both vertical walls of the cabinet which are parallel to the sides of the tank. A hanger bracket 28 in the form of a metal plate having a vertical center section 30 and two end sections 32 and 34 can be used to hang the cabinets. In particular end section 34 has a curved down lip which engages the top of tank 12 underneath the cover 14, and section 32 has a curved up lip which engages the slot 26.
3,170,168 Patented Feb. 23, 1965 When two cabinets are to be stacked one above the other, hanger brackets 28 can be vertically attached one to the other with the section 34 of the lower bracket engaging the section 32 of the upper bracket. Alternatively, the lower bracket can take the form shown in FIGURES 4 and 5 wherein section 34 of the lower bracket can be replaced by a stnaight slotted section 46 having a horizontal slot 42.
Brackets 2%; instead of being in the form of metal plates can be in the form of suitably S-shaped wires as shown at 59 in FIGURE 3.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, my protection is to be limited only by the terms of the claim which follows.
I claim:
In combination with a toilet having a vertical water tank with a removable top cover, at least one cabinet positioned adjacent one side of said tank and having an opening for use, additional first and second cabinets stacked one above the other adjacent the other side of the tank, each axiditional cabinet having an opening for use, each of said cabinets having a horizontal slit in one vertical wall adjacent the associated side of said tank and having another horizontal slit in the opposite parallel vertical wall, first means having an upper curved end engaging the top of said tank at said oneside and having: a lower curved end engaging the slit of said one cabinet in the wall adjacent said one side to hold said one cabinet in position, and second means engaging the top of said tank on the other side and having first and second ventia cally spaced curved elements engaging the respective slits of said additional cabinets in the walls adjoining the other side to hold same in position, said elements each being a hanger bracket, said brackets being secured one to another in stacked relation.
