No. 301,789 1 Claim. (Cl. 128479) The present invention relates generally to ladies garments and more particularly to brassiere type bathing suits.

The general object of this invention is to provide ladies and girls bathing suits with a novel .accessory in the form of a brassiere'having cup portions to which removable pads may be readily secured to enhance the figure of the wearer.

It is well known that many women suffer from ill-figured breasts, due to the fact that the breasts may be underdeveloped or of small development which results in a small or flat appearing bust whereby the body suffers from lack of beauty. To overcome this defect, it has been proposed to provide brassiere cups to impart to the bust a fullness and shape that will enhance the figure.

The primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved breast supporting garment which will be free from the aforementioned and other objections found in prior art supports for the indicated purpose.

A further object of this invention is to provide a novel brassiere for bathing suits wherein detachable pads may be mounted in the cup portions of the brassieres, said pads being interchangeable with pads of different sizes to fill out the cup portions regardless of the size of the wearers breasts.

A still further object of the present invention is to provide a novel breast support for a bathing suit which is relatively simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and which is highly efiicient in use.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing wherein:

FIGURE 1 is a rear view of a bathing suit illustrating the present invention;

FIGURE 2 is an enlarged rear view of a section of the bathing suit;

FIGURE 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of FIGURE 2; and

FIGURE 4 illustrates a breast pad utilized in connection with the brassiere of the present invention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, there is illustrated a bathing suit having a brassiere 11 pursuantto the present invention. The bathing suit 10 may be formed of any suitable material and may be of any suitable construction.

As here shown, the bathing suit is provided at the inner surface thereof, in its bust area 12, with a suitable panel 13 formed of the same or similar fabric as the bathing suit, and which extends substantially throughout the bust area. Said panel is suitably secured to the suit as by The pad, indicated by numeral 19, and illustrated in Q FIGURE 4, is substantially cup-shaped and is composed of any suitable cushioning material. The pad is of a size to fit within the cup portions 17 and to be wholly confined therein. The pads may be of any desired thickness depending upon the degree of fullness sought to be attained. The pads are secured to the cup portions by suitable securing elements, as for example snap fasteners by securing one of the fasteners 20 at the upper central portion of the cup member and the other fastener element 21 to the outer face of the pad at the upper central portion thereof.

The advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the foregoing description. However, it should be pointed out that due to the simplified construction described, it is possible to use the bathing suit without pads where same are unnecessary for the proper appearance of the user. Where it is desired to increase the apparent size of the breast, it is only necessary to snap the proper sized pad into place.

While I have shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention, it will be understood that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the principles of the invention except as may be required by the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

A bathing suit comprising two breast receiving pockets, a brassiere having a front section comprising a pair of breast receiving cups, said section being secured to the bathing suit by a line of stitching extending around said cup except for the lower edge thereof with the breast receiving cups lying within the breast receiving pockets, cup members lying within the breast receiving cups and secured to said cups by a line of stitching within the confines of said cups, cup shaped pads receivable within said cup members, said pads being interchangeable with pads of different sizes to fill out the cup portions irrespective of the size of the wearers bust, and cooperating fastening means on the upper portion only of said pads and cup members for detachably securing the pads and cup members together.
