Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 33,481, dated O'ctoberl, 1861.

To all whom it may concern.:

Be it known that I, J. P. GILLESPIE, of New Albany, in the county of Floyd and State of Indiana, have invented .certain new and useful Improvements in Metallic Cartridges; and

I do hereby declare that the followin gis a full,

clear, and exact description ofthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to theletters of reference marked thereon.

In the annexed drawings, making part ofv the Case. The metal at the rearof thecase may be out otf on the line z 5, if desired, leaving the nipple exposed. The case A may vbe made a littlelarger at the rear than at the front, so as to allow it to draw out readily.

This cartridge is to be used with breech-load-v ing cannon, as well as small-arms.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is- The within-described cartridge-case, provided with points or pins a: nearits mouth,
