No. 524,665 2 Claims. (Cl. 2l45) The present invention relates to a tie holder and more particularly to a tie holder which is completely hidden by the tie when worn.

According to the invention, a strip of fastening tape is attached to the back side of the front section of a cravat tie. A patch of similar fastening tape is attached to the front side of the back section of the cravat tie for cooperating with the strip of fastening tape attached to the back side of the front section of a cravat tie for holding the two sections together when worn and the knot is tied. A strip of fastening tape is also attached to the back side of the back section of the tie for cooperation with a similar patch of fastening tape which may be attached to a shirt by means of an ordinary tie clip, tie bar, tie tack or shirt button. Hence, the front and back sections of the tie are held together and the back section is held to the shirt, securing both sections of the cravat tie to the shirt of the wearer with the fastening means completely out of view, being hidden by the tie itself.

An object of the present invention is the provision of an improved tie holder for holding the two parts of a cravat tie together and against the wearers shirt.

Another object is to provide a tie holder in which the majority of the tie holding implements are integral with the tie.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a tie holder in which the tie holding means is completely hidden from view by the tie itself.

Still another object is to provide a tie holder which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and extremely convenient to use.

Other objects and many of the attendant advantages of this invention will be readily appreciated as the same becomes better understood by reference to the following detailed description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawings in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the figures thereof and wherein:

FIG. 1 is a front view showing the present invention in actual use;

FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing a modification of the embodiment of FIG. 1;

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a further modification of one element of FIG. 1; and

FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing still another modification of an element of FIG. 1.

Referring to FIG. 1, a section of the shirt of the wearer is shown generally at 11 having a collar portion 12. A cravat tie shown generally at 13 has a knot 14 abutting collar 12 of shirt 11. Extending from knot 14 are front portion 16 and back portion 17 of tie 13. Holding tape 18 is secured to the back side of front section 17 as by sewing or stitching, and holding tape 19 is secured to the back side of back portion 17 of cravat tie 13 also as by stitching or sewing. A patch of holding tape 21 is secured to the front side of back portion 17 of cravat tie 13. Patch 22 of holding tape is secured to the front side of a tie clip 23 which is secured to the front of shirt 11.

Referring to FIG. 2, a tie bar 24 is shown having a patch 26 for holding tape secured to the front thereof as by glueing.

3,405,408 Patented Oct. 15, 1968 Referring to FIG. 3, a part of a tie tack is shown generally at 27 having a bar portion 28 designed to fit within the button hole of a shirt and a linking chain 29. Linking chain 29 is secured to a block 31, the front of which has a patch of holding tape 32 attached thereto as by glueing.

Referring to FIG. 4, another part of a tie tack is shown generally at 33 having a pin portion 34 with a receptical portion 36 having an orifice 37 for cooperation with pin 34. Pin 34 is secured to a round block 38 having a patch of fastening tape attached thereto as by glueing. Pin 34 is designed to be inserted through the shirt and section 36, holding it underneath the shirt of the wearer.

Referring back to FIG. 1, it can be seen that patch 21 will cooperate with strip 18 to hold front section 16 and back section 17 of cravat tie 13 together. It is pointed out here that the fastening tape can be any conventional and commercially available reusable cooperating tape such as the hook and loop type manufactured under the trade name Velcro. Patch 22, of course, secures the back side of back section 17 of cravat tie 13 to clip 23 and hence to the shirt of the wearer.

FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 show modifications of tie clip 23 is a tie bar in FIG. 2 and parts of a conventional tie tack in FIGS. 3 and 4.

It can be seen that through the utilization of the tie holder disclosed the tie is neatly secured together and to the front of the wearers shirt without any of the holding implements being visible.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing disclosure relates to only a preferred embodiment of the invention and that it is intended to cover all changes and modifications of the example of the invention herein chosen for the purposes of the disclosure which do not constitute departure from the spirit and scope of the invention.

I claim:

1. A tie holder for holding a cravat tie comprising:

a cravat tie having a front section with front and back sides and a back section with front and back sides;

an elongated strip of re-usable fastening tape attached to the backside of said front section;

a re-usable fastening tape attached to the front side of said back section in cooperating relationship with the re-usable fastening tape attached to the backside of said front section;

an elongated strip of re-usable fastening tape attached to the backside of said back section; and

means adapted to attach a re-usable fastening tape to the front of a wearers shirt in cooperating relationship with said re-usable fastening tape attached to the backside of said back section.

2. The tie holder of claim 1 wherein said means adapted to attach a reusable fastening tape to the front of a wearers shirt comprises a mechanical fastening means removably attachable to said shirt; and a patch of reusable fastening tape fixedly attached thereto.

Claims

1. A TIE HOLDER FOR HOLDING A CRAVAT TIE COMPRISING: A CRAVAT TIE HAVING A FRONT SECTION WITH FRONT AND BACK SIDES AND A BACK SECTION WITH FRONT AND BACK SIDES; AN ELONGATED STRIP OF RE-USABLE FASTENING TAPE ATTACHED TO THE BACKSIDE OF SAID FRONT SECTION; A RE-USABLE FASTENING TAPE ATTACHED TO THE FRONT SIDE OF SAID BACK SECTION IN COOPERATING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE RE-USABLE FASTENING TAPE ATTACHED TO THE BACKSIDE OF SAID FRONT SECTION; AN ELONGATED STRIP OF RE-USABLE FASTENING TAPE ATTACHED TO THE BACKSIDE OF SAID BACK SECTION; AND MEANS ADAPTED TO ATTACH A RE-USABLE FASTENING TAPE TO THE FRONT OF A WEARER''S SHIRT IN COOPERATING RELATIONSHIP WITH SAID RE-USABLE FASTENING TAPE ATTACHED TO THE BACKSIDE OF SAID BACK SECTION.
