UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL sIMMONs, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
HOLDER FOR BOAS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,941, dated November 2, 1886. Application filed April 22, 1886. Serial No. 199,726. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL SIMMONs, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Boas, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved fastener for fur boas; and it consists of a fastener for boas made of resilient mate-Ta], and having ring-shaped holders of equal size bent in opposite direction to each other, the ends of the holders being located near the curved middle portion of the fastener, so as to overlap the same.
y In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a boa with my improved fastener, and Figs. 2 and-3 are a side view and a top view of the fastener drawn on a larger scale.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. I
A in the drawings represents my improved fastener for fur boas, which fastener is made of hard rubber, steel, or other suitable resilient material and in the shape of the letter S, with ring-shaped holders a a, of equal size, bent in opposite direction to the middle connecting part, b. The ends of the holders a a are arranged adjoining to and at Opposite sides of the middle part, b, and overlap the same, so that the holders can be readily opened and sprung over the ends of the boa.
The fastener can be readily adjusted up or down on the boa, so that the latter tits snugly around the neck, or can be removed from the same. It forms a cheap and convenient fastening device for fur boas and similar articles, in place of the more expensive fUI' UOVGIGd loops and buttons heretofore in use.
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A fastener for fur boas and similar'articles, made of resilient material and provided with ring-shaped holders of equal size, bent in opposite direction to each other, the ends of said holders being located close to and at opposite sides of the middle connecting part, so as to overlap the same, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in pres ence of two subscribing witnesses.
SAMUEL SIMMON S.
