My invention'h'as 'for its object to simplify and improve the construction of`tliis class of devices. These ends I accomplish by means of `-a noveldonble acting cheek-valve andthe gen-l r5eral construction and combination of `parts* hereinafter-'fnllysetforth and thenv specifically` 'lairned. i l i In describing-lily invention I shall refer bynumbers to the accompanying drawing, lform- 'zo ing part ofy thisl specifeatiom-said drawing beingalongitudinal section ofthe device complete, the partsbeingshown-.in full lines in the olosed'position andin' dotted lines-in -the opened position, j 2 :l isjthe body or case,

' interior of the body or ease is divided into thre'e chambers or compartments by partitions 8 and .9. Each of tliesegpartitions' is provided with 35 acent'ral opening, 10, through'which the valvestem passcs.- At the lower end of the valvestem isa 'valve ordi'sk, 11,- vvhich -is upwardly in a correfsponding ly -l beveled and tsclosely lbeveled ground-seat, 12,in the under' side of repartition 8. The valve-stemisprovided-with' aeentralopening, L13, which extends down -to, ldisk 11. .J ust, above this disk are apertures 14, which .lead into' the' .central openingor passage,- as will be' nioreffull-y'explained. 5 15is a downwardly-beveled diskiip'on-the fvalvestem, Whichis adapted,` to engage arcor;

This, howlever, I hav not deemed it necessary to'show, Y as 1t forms no portion of my invention.
In practice a number ot' these washers are used in a row or circle, and au attendant, passing` along the row. removes the washed bottles and SubSbituteS others, each bottle remaining in position upon the plate as long as may he neeessary, or until :it is reached again. Larger sized devices may of course be used for beerkegs, barrels, &c.
It will be seen'that the construction is'such that no packing whatever is required,while at the same time there is an absolutely1 tight entoff when the. device is not in operation.
It will of course be understood that I du not'desire to limit myself to the exact details of construction shown and described, as itfis obvious that they may be. variedwithin reasonable 'limits without departing from the spirit of my invention.l
I claim- 1. The body havingr partitions S and i), each of which. is provided with a central opening and aseat, in combination -with a stem having a Central opening,` and apertures leading.r thereto, a disk at the lower end of said stem adapted lo engage the'lower seat, and anotherdisk upon said stein adapted to engage the upper seat when the lower disk is not iu engagement.

The body having partitions 8 and 9, each having a central opening andaseat, andastem having a central opening;7 apertures leading thereto and carrying disks adapted to engage said seats, in combination with a cap adapted lo engage a hub on the body and havingacentra] opening through which the stem passes.

In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence ot` two witnesses.l
