sum 2 or 2 FIG 2.
A TTOE/Mi 5 5 HAND COVERING BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Many body and hand coverings have been devised for keeping the body and hands warm. The present invention is so simple that it has been overlooked by all of the other workers in this particular art. The warm breath of the wearer of various garments by complicated and cumbersome tubing and the like. The present invention provides a simple flap located below the second and third finger of the hand. When this flap is raised it forms a funnel that when blown into directs the warm breath toward and around the fingers and palm of the hand thereby raising the internal temperature of the glove.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a hand covering into which warm breath may be induced to warm the fingers of the wearer.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a means of inducing the warm breath into said hand covering which is uncumbersome and simple to manufacture.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide a means for inducing the breath of the wearer into said hand covering which will not interfere with the normal use of the hands.
These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the drawings and following description.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. I is a top elevation of the fingered glove of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a top elevation of the mitten of the present invention,
FIG. 3 is a partial isometric elevation of the present invention.
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional elevation taken along lines 4-4 of FIG. 2.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now to the drawings and in particular to FIGS. 1 and 2 an air hole is cut into the back portion of the hand covering rearwardly of the finger portion thereof, i.e., below the second finger l2 and the third finger 13 ofthe hand and so positioned as to malge an air access to allgft he fipgrs Above this hole a funnel 27) is stitched so as to form an air funnel hav ing an outlet portion leading to hole 10.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. I the flexible top and bottom members of the material forming the fingers and thumb are slightly gathered and stitched to form air passage ways 30 leading from hole 10 to and around the fingers. Theentrance or inlet portion of funnel is generally triangular in shape so that a generally rounded entrance is provided when the funnel 20 is opened.
Referring now to FIGS. 3 and 4 which illustrate the preferred construction of the air funnel it will be noted that a closure member 21 is provided on the top of air funnel 20 which corresponds to hole 10 and seals this hole when the funnel is closed. At the entrance to this funnel 20 hook and pile type closure members 22 and 23 are utilized to seal the entrance to the funnel and prevent the immediate loss of the warm air from the hand covering. On the wrist portion of the hand covering a tight fitting portion 24 is supplied which may be made of an elastic band to seal the interior of the glove and prevent the immediate escape of warm air out from the wrist portion.
Various changes and modifications may be made in carrying out the present invention without departing from the scope and spirit thereof. Insofar as these changes and modifications are within purview of the annexed claims, they are considered as a part of the invention.
Iclaim:
l. A hand covering comprising:
flexible top and bottom covering members adapted to be worn in contiguous relation above and below the fingers of the hand,
said top and bottom members extending to the wrist of the hand and being semi-airtight therearound,
a flexible funnel member mounted on the exterior of one of said covering members and located rearwardly of the finger area of said hand covering for the induction of warm air in a direction to warm the hand and fingers of the wearer,
said funnel member being in communication at one end thereof with an air hole through said one of said covering members,
whereby warm air from the mouth of the wearer may be introduced at the other end of said funnel for delivery through said air hole into the space between said covering members to warm the hand and fingers of the wearer.
2. A hand covering as defined in claim 1 wherein said flexible top and bottom covering members are formed to provide individual finger stalls and wherein said air hole is disposed adjacent thereto.
3. The hand covering of claim 1 wherein said funnel member comprises an inlet portion and an outlet portion, said outlet portion forming an entrance into the interior of said covering at a position adjacent the top ofthe wearers hand,
said inlet portion having a means for closing said funnel by attachment to the adjacent covering member.
4. The hand covering of claim 3 wherein said means for closing said funnel member comprises mating hook and pile member.
5. The hand covering of claim I wherein means are provided for controlling the external emission of thermal radiation when said funnel member is not in use.

Claims (5)

2. A hand covering as defined in claim 1 wherein said flexible top and bottom covering members are formed to provide individual finger stalls and wherein said air hole is disposed adjacent thereto.
3. The hand covering of claim 1 wherein said funnel member comprises an inlet portion and an outlet portion, said outlet portion forming an entrance into the interior of said hand covering at a position adjacent the top of the wearer''s hand, said inlet portion having a means for closing said funnel by attachment to the adjacent covering member.
4. The hand covering of claim 3 wherein said means for closing said funnel member comprises mating hook and pile member.
