SLIDE FASTENER DEVICE This invention relates to a slide fastener and has particular reference to such a slide fastener which is provided with a label, tag or the like for indicating thereon the types, sizes, prices, instructions and so on to facilitate the identification of different product fasteners.
The present invention has for its object to provide a slide fastener'having attached thereon a tag which has a dual function firstly to indicate the necessary information in respect of the product specifications and secondly to serve as an end stop for limiting the reciprocal movement of a sliding member.
This and other objects and features of the invention willappear clear from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a tag for use with a slide fastener according to the invention; I
FIG. 2 is a plan view of a slide fastener onto which the tag of FIG. 1 is applied;
FIG. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 2 but showing the tag as provisionally attached on the fastener;
FIG. 4 is a plan view of the tag shown as permanently secured to the fastener;
FIG. 5 is a plan view of the tag secured to the fastener in a position to serve as a top end stop;
FIG. 6 is a plan view of a modification of the tag according to the invention;
FIG. 7 is a perspective view of another modification according to the invention; and
FIG. 8 is a plan view of the tag mounted upside down on the fastener. g
In accordance with the invention, there is provided a slide fastener device comprising: in combination with a line along which said strip is removed and a hook eye at an end opposite to said strip, said strip being fusible into position on the fastener thereby forming an end stop for limiting thereat the reciprocal movement of the slider.
Referring now to the drawings and to FIG. 1 in particular, there is shown a tag 10 which is made of a thermoplastic resin such a nylon, polyester or the like and which is in the form of a sheet having a width substantially equal to the width of a slide fastener F to which the tag 10 is to be applied. The tag 10 is provided at one end with an opening or hook eye 11 for hanging the slidefastener normally vertically on a suitable support pin (.not shown) for purposes of display, and at the other end withanv attachment zone 12 demarcated by a series of perforations 13 extending transversely of the tag, which attachment zone serves as an end stop as later described.
The series of perforations 13 may be substituted by a continuous recess or depression defining a separation line 14 along which the attachment zone 12-is cut and separated from the body of the tag 10.
FIG. 2 illustrates a slide fastener F comprising a pair of opposed stringer tapes l5, 16 each carrying along fastener elements E, and a slider 17 movable along the rows of fastener elements E for closing and opening the fastener in the usual manner.
Advantageously, the tag 10 may be mounted on the fastener F with the attachment zone or strip 12 registered at a position where an end stop, or a bottom end stop in the case of FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, is to be applied, so that the attachment strip 12 when secured to the fastener F as with heat and pressure forms per se an end stop 18 for limiting thereat the movement of the slider 17, thus precluding the necessity of applying a separate end stop member. With the strip fused into position on the fastener F, the tag 10 is removed'simply by tearing it off along the separation line 14, leaving the strip 12 with the fastener.
FIG. 3 illustrates the manner in which the tag 10 is preclamped on the fastener as by a staple 19 adjacent a conventional stop member 20, and the fastener is thus placed on the market. When applying the fastener to a garment or the like, the staple 19 is removed, and the attachment strip or zone 12 of the tag 10 is brought into a position on the fastener where the reciprocal movement of the slider 17 is to be terminated at one end of the fastener. The attachment strip 12 is thus secured in position with heatand pressure as shown in FIG. 4.
The tag 10 may be mounted on the top end of the fastener, as desired, so that the attachment strip 12 serves as a top end stop as seen in FIG. 5.
FIG. 6 illustrates one modification of the tag 10 which is characterized by the provision of an attachment strip 12 of a smaller width.
FIG. 7 illustratesanother modification of the tag 10 which is characterized by the provision of an attachment strip 12 which is removably attached on the tag 10 as by a pressure-sensitive adhesive 21. In use, the attachment strip 12 may be removed from the tag 10 and applied to the fastener F in the manner already described.
FIG. 8 is presented for illustrating the case wherein the tag 10 is mounted upside down on the fastener so that the tag 10 may be folded on itself along the separation line when it is hung for display purposes.
It will be noted that according to the invention, part of the tag 10 is utilized to advantage for forming an end stop to. suit any finish length of an individual slide fastener, without having to apply any separate stop member. g
Having thus described the invention it.will be understood that changes and modifications may be made therein in the specific form and construction herein advanced, without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is: 1.
