Abstract
A decorative light source consisting of a group of incandescent bulbs covered by a suspended translucent plastic dome. The dome is consequently set in a spinning motion by the thermal air currents generated by the heat of the flashing lamps, resulting in the projecting of random non-repetitive color patterns on the walls and ceiling of the room in which the lights are located.

Each of the incandescent bulbs is controlled by an independent blinker switch, so that the flashing of the lamps is in random order. The suspended plastic dome is fastened by a fine piece of I thread from above. The dome is consequently set in a spinning motion by the thermal air currents generated by the heat of the flashing lamps, resulting in the projecting of random non-repetitive color patterns on the i wallsand ceiling of the room in which the lights are located.
1 Claim, 3 Drawing Figures SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a light source of decorative and non-repetitive colored patterns, projected on the walls and the ceiling of the room in which the device is set up.
The apparatus consists of a set of colored incandescent light bulbs, each of which is connected by an independent flasher to the basic electric supply, with each lamp flashing in true random sequence. A translucent plastic dome is suspended above the lamps by a thin string, such that the thermal air currents generated by the flashing bulbs cause, the translucent dome to rotate. Colored patterns are projected by the action of the flahing lamps through the rotating translucent dome onto the walls and the ceiling of the room in which the device is mounted. i
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING The objects and features of the invention may be understood with reference to the following detailed description of an illustrative embodiment of the invention, taken together with the accompanying drawing in which:

FIG. 3 is a plan view of the device taken at line 33 of FIG. 2.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT:
Turning now descriptively to the drawing, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIG. 1 illustrates the ap- FIG. 2, and FIG. 3 the plastic dome 17 is suspended directly over the incandescent bulbs 23 mounted in sockets 22 in the upper surface 18 of the apparatus 10. Each lamp socket 22 is controlled by an independent flasher unit which flashes the electric bulb 23 mounted in that socket, independently of the flashing of any other lamp unit, when the switch 21 is in the ON position and the paratus 10 mounted on a shalf 11 supported by a stand 12 adjacent to a decorative plant 14.
A vertical metal rod 15 is mounted to the apparatus so as to freely support the suspension of translucent dome 17 by means of string 16 which is fastened from the rod 15 to the center of the dome 17. As shown in electric supply cord 20 is connected to the electric supply line. The random flashing of lamps results in periods when all lamps are ON, and periods when all lamps are OFF with varying periods of some lamps being ON while others are OFF. The electric bulbs 23 are preferably tinted in various colors such as red, yellow, green, and blue, and the thermal air currents produced by the heat of the electric bulbs act to set the translucent dome 17 in a rotating pendulum type of motion.
Since obvious changes may be made in the specific embodiment of the invention described herein, it is indicated that all matter contained herein is intended as illustrative and not as limiting in scope.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A decorative light source which projects random moving light patterns on nearby walls and on the ceiling, consisting of a group of colored incandescent light bulbs mounted in mating lamp sockets, with a translucent plastic dome suspended by a thread directly above the mounted light bulbs, with each light bulb independently controlled by a flasher unit such that all bulbs flash in random sequence when the lamp sockets are connected to a common source of electricity, in which the lamp sockets are mounted in the upper surface of a base structure, with a vertical rod which is mounted to the base structure suspending the plastic dome directly above the lamp sockets, such that the projected light patterns emitted on the walls and on the ceiling are varied by the pendulum-like rotation of the transluically reversed in direction.
Claims (1)
1. A decorative light source which projects random moving light patterns on nearby walls and on the ceiling, consisting of a group of colored incandescent light bulbs mounted in mating lamp sockets, with a translucent plastic dome suspended by a thread directly above the mounted light bulbs, with each light bulb independently controlled by a flasher unit such that all bulbs flash in random sequence when the lamp sockets are connected to a common source of electricity, in which the lamp sockets are mounted in the upper surface of a base structure, with a vertical rod which is mounted to the base structure suspending the plastic dome directly above the lamp sockets, such that the projected light patterns emitted on the walls and on the ceiling are varied by the pendulum-like rotation of the translucent plastic dome, with the rotation of the dome and the projected light patterns being automatically periodically reversed in direction.
