The cigarette may be ignited by means of an elongated member extending through the front end wall, the member having a portion arranged to cover the perforations in the end wall and being lightly adhered thereto before use; the cigarette having its front end coated with a ring of ignitable material and the rear end portion of the elongated member having an enlarged abrasive surface thereon on such that the abrasive material will cause ignition of the cigarette end upon relative axial movement thereof.

The cigarette may be ignitedby means of an elongated member extending through the front end wall, the member having a portion arranged to cover the perforations in the end wall and being lightly adhered thereto before use; the cigarette having its front end coated with a ring of ignitable material and the rear end portion of the elongated member having an enlarged abrasive surface thereon on such that the abrasive material will cause ignition of the cigarette end upon relative axial movement thereof.
4 Claims, 6 Drawing Figures 1 FIRE-PROOF AND ASH-PROOF CIGARETTE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention This invention relates to smoking cigarettes.
2. Description of the Prior Art It is generally well known that many fires are started due to careless use of cigarettes. Upon many occasions it is known that cigarette smokers fall asleep while smoking and thus cause a dropped cigarette to begin a fire, thus endangering human lives. This is a serious situation in need of improvement.
It is therefore a principal object of the present invention to provide an improved cigarette wherein the cigarette flame is enclosed and thus being impossible to be contacted by other objects that are subject to burn.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved cigarette which incorporates a fire-proof case formed around a conventional cigarette, the end of the case being perforated with small openings so as to allow a match flame to gain access to the end of the cigarette tobacco for igniting the same.
Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide an improved cigarette wherein the case will retain the ashes which drop off the end of the cigarette and thus prevent the ashes from soiling a carpet or other objects upon which the same might otherwise be dropped.
Other objects'of the present invention are to provide an improved cigarette which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use, and efficient in operation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION One embodiment of the present invention is a fireproof and ash-proof cigarette comprising a perforated hollow case, a conventional cigarette member mounted centrally within the case, and igniting means mounted within the case for the ignition of the cigarette member.
Related objects and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The conventional cigarette I1 is comprised of a quantity of tobacco 13 wrapped within a roll of cigarette paper 14, one end of which encloses a conventional filter 15.
In the present invention, the case 12 comprises a tubular member of slightly larger diametrical dimensions than the outer diameter of the cigarette 11 so as to provide a space 16 therebetween all around the cigarette. The case 12 may be made of any fire-proof material such as fiberglass or metal foil, and can be in any color like lipstick cases. The end wall 17 of the case is provided with a plurality of small perforations or openings 18 so as to admit air therethrough, while the cigarette is being smoked, and also serve for a flame of a match placed in front thereof to ignite the cigarette.
The opposite end 19 of the case is constricted and secured around the outer side of the cigarette 11.
In operative use the space 16 around the paper 14 will insulate the case and thus allow the case to be held between a person's fingers without burning himself. A plurality of openings 20 are formed along the side of the case 12 so as to improve the draw of air during the smoking operation. Each successive opening 20 is relatively smaller than an adjacent opening.
Referring now to FIGS. 4 through 6, a fire-proof cigarette 21 includes the principle of the above features and additionally includes a tab 22 attached by pressure sensitive adhesive to a front side of end wall 17 so to close the perforated openings and thus maintain the tobacco fresh from drying until ready to smoke, when the tab is peeled off as shown in FIG. 5, and then pulled straight forwardly as shown in FIG. 6 so that a match 23 integral with the tab is pulled out of the case through an opening 24. As the match is pulled out, it ignites the FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT For the purposes of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, and specific language will be used to describe the same.

The match thus carries no flame as it is pulled out.
While the invention has been illustrated and described in detail in the drawings and foregoing description, the same is to be considered as illustrative and not restrictive in character, it being understood that only the preferred embodiments have been shown and described and that all changes and modifications that come within the spirit of the invention are desired to be protected.
The invention claimed is:
l. A fire-proof and ash-proof cigarette comprising:
a perforated hollow case;
a conventional cigarette member mounted centrally within said case; and,
' a perforated hollow case;
igniting means mounted within said case for the ignition of said cigarette member;
said cigarette having a distal end with ignitable material mounted externally thereon adjacent the inside wall of said case; and,
said means including an elongated member secured to said case and having an abrasive surface which strikes said ignitable material as said elongated member is pulled outwardly from said case for the ignition of said cigarette;
said cigarette member including a filter end;
said case having an end wall with a plurality of small perforated openings thereon to permit drawing air therethrough, the opposite end of said case being secured to an outer side of said filter end, said elongated member being secured externally to said end wall by adhesive means and sealingly closing said perforated openings until said elongated member is pulled outwardly away from said end wall, said elongated member extendingthrough said end wall and having said abrasive surface positioned between said cigarette member and said hollow case, said case including a plurality of apertures positioned in a side wall of said case which decreases in size from said end wall toward said opposite end of said case. 2. A cigarette device comprising:
a conventional cigarette member mounted within said case;
means mounted within said case for the ignition of said cigarette member; and wherein:
said cigarette has a distal end with ignitable material arranged externally thereon adjacent the inside wall of said case, said means includes an elongated member secured to said case which has an abrasive surface which strikes said ignitable material as said elongated member is pulled outwardly from said case for the ignition of said cigarette, said case has an end wall with a plurality of small perforated openings thereon to permit drawing air therethrough, said elongated member is secured externally to said end wall and sealingly closes said perforated opening until said elongated member is pulled outwardly away from said end wall, said elongated member extends through said end wall and has said abrasive surface positioned between said cigarette member and said hollow case.
3. The cigarette of claim 2 wherein:
said case includes a plurality of apertures positioned in a side wall of said case which decrease in size from said end wall toward said opposite end of said case.

said elongated member is secured to said end wall by adhesive means.

Claims (4)

1. A fire-proof and ash-proof cigarette comprising: a perforated hollow case; a conventional cigarette member mounted centrally within said case; and, igniting means mounted within said case for the ignition of said cigarette member; said cigarette having a distal end with ignitable material mounted externally thereon adjacent the inside wall of said case; and, said means including an elongated member secured to said case and having an abrasive surface which strikes said ignitable material as said elongated member is pulled outwardly from said case for the ignition of said cigarette; said cigarette member incluDing a filter end; said case having an end wall with a plurality of small perforated openings thereon to permit drawing air therethrough, the opposite end of said case being secured to an outer side of said filter end, said elongated member being secured externally to said end wall by adhesive means and sealingly closing said perforated openings until said elongated member is pulled outwardly away from said end wall, said elongated member extending through said end wall and having said abrasive surface positioned between said cigarette member and said hollow case, said case including a plurality of apertures positioned in a side wall of said case which decreases in size from said end wall toward said opposite end of said case.
2. A cigarette device comprising: a perforated hollow case; a conventional cigarette member mounted within said case; means mounted within said case for the ignition of said cigarette member; and wherein: said cigarette has a distal end with ignitable material arranged externally thereon adjacent the inside wall of said case, said means includes an elongated member secured to said case which has an abrasive surface which strikes said ignitable material as said elongated member is pulled outwardly from said case for the ignition of said cigarette, said case has an end wall with a plurality of small perforated openings thereon to permit drawing air therethrough, said elongated member is secured externally to said end wall and sealingly closes said perforated opening until said elongated member is pulled outwardly away from said end wall, said elongated member extends through said end wall and has said abrasive surface positioned between said cigarette member and said hollow case.
3. The cigarette of claim 2 wherein: said case includes a plurality of apertures positioned in a side wall of said case which decrease in size from said end wall toward said opposite end of said case.
4. The cigarette of claim 2 wherein: said elongated member is secured to said end wall by adhesive means.
