Description

(NoModeL) J. O. MAGKINTOSH.
BOTTLE WASHER.
No. 383,964. Patented June 5,1888;

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN C. MAOKINTOSH, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO A. FRED. TILLOTSON, OF SAME PLACE.
BOTTLE-WASHER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 383,964, dated J une 5, 1888.
Application filed October 3, 1887. Serial No. 253L348. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, JOHN C. MAOKINTOSH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Im provements in Bottle-Washers; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings. and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.
My invention consists in the improvements in bottle-washers hereinafter set forth and explained, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of my improved bottle-washer. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section of the same with a bottle-neck in place and the hose removed.
Like letters refer to like parts in both figures.
The objects of my invention are to make a convenient bottle-washing device which may be readily attached to and used upon an ordinary hydrant-cock, and flexible hose-connections thereon, so that it can be used as a portable washer.
In constructing myimproved bottle-washers, I make a conical hood, A, of suitable size to pass over and inclose the neck B of a bottle, substantially as illustrated in Fig. 2. The up per end of the hood A, I provide with an extension or collar, 0, having a screw-thread, D, therein, by means whereof the hood A can be secured to the nipple of a hydrant-cock or secured to a hosenipple, as illustrated in Fig. 1. At the point ofjunction of the conical hood A and the collar 0, I secure therein a disk, E, havingataperingjet-tube, F, projecting downwardly therefrom, adapted to enter the neck B of a bottle, substantially as illustrated in Fig. 2, so that water entering the collar 0 under pressure is forced downward through the jet-tube F into the bottle in the form of astrong jet, the water escaping from the neck B of the bottle around the outside of the jet-tube F being thrown up against the inside of the conical hood A and thereby deflected downward upon the outside of the bottle, thus thoroughly washing the bottle inside and out.
In Fig.1 I showa flexible hose, H, connected to the collar 0, having on itsopposite end a suitable coupling, I, for securing it to a hydrant-nipple, the object and use thereof being to enable. the cone A to be carried from one point to another and used with equal facility and convenience at any point within reach of the hose H.
The operation of my device is so obvious that further description thereof is unnecessary.
Having thus described my invention, so as to enable others to construct and use the same, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1. The combination, in a portable bottlewasher, of a screw-threaded collar, having a diaphragm and a central jet-tube secured in said diaphragm with a hoodsecured to said collar and surrounding said jet-tube, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination, in a portable bottlewasher, of a collar, 0, having a tape'ring jet tube, F, adapted to enter a bottle-neck, secured to one end thereof, with a conical hood, A, secured at its apex to the collar 0, and adapted to cover and surround a bottle-neck when the jet-tube F is inserted therein, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses. JOHN G. MAGKINTOSH. Witnesses:
A. FRED. TILLoTsoN, H. J. GURTZE.
