[57] ABSTRACT 52 US. (:1. 70/456 R, 150/40 A dual y ring holder comprising a P of identical 51 1m. 01 A47g 29/10 holder units formed of leather, each unit including a 53 Field f Search 70 45 45 B, 457 453 holder member having a folded tab at one end which 70 459; 150 40; 2 3 K receives a key ring secured by a rivit; the rivit also forming an element of a snap fastener element so that 5 References Cited the two holder members may be removably secured together at their Opposllfi Cl'lClS.
2,482,422 9/1949 Loew 150/40 3 Claims, 3 ra ing Figures DUAL KEY RING HOLDER BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY OF THE INNVENTION Key holders formed of leather and having a looped tab to receive a key ring have been in common use. Often, however, two sets of keys are required. or it's desired to provide for ready removal of a single key such as a car key. The present invention is directed to a key holder in which two identical holders, each provided with a looped tab received on a key ring are so arranged as to be readily connected or separated in order that, when separated, each holder and it's key ring may be used separately, or, when connected the key rings are at opposite ends of the dual holder for ready identification and separate use.
DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES FIG. I is a plan view of the assembled ring holder.
FIG. 2 is a side view thereof.
FIG. 3 is a plan view of one of the holder units.
A dual ring holder includes a pair of holder members I which are preferably identical. The holder members are shown as being oval in shape but they may be rectangular or otherwise shaped.
Each holder member is provided with a tab 2 which is folded upon itself to form a loop 3 to receive a key ring 4.
The tab is secured in its loop condition to one end of its corresponding holding member by means of a rivit 5. The rivit 5 includes an outwardly projecting separa' ble fastener element 6 projecting from the tab.
A mating separable fastener element 7 having a socket 8 is secured near the opposite end of the holder member.
The two holder members are adapted to be removably connected by the two separable or snap fastener elements 6 and 7. When the holder members are so fastened together, the tabs extend in opposite directions placing the two key rings 4 at opposite ends of the key ring holder. Normally the two holder members are fastened together as shown in FIGS. I and 2. Should it be desirable to separate the two key rings. it is merely necessary to disconnect the two sets of separable fastener elements 6 and 7.
It is preferred to form the dual key ring holder of leather. The holder members I being arranged with their smooth or finished sides facing outward and their rough or normally inner sides in confronting relation. The tabs are looped so that their finished sides face outward. The finished sides of the holder members may be provided with various ornamental designs.
Having fully described my invention it is to be understood that I am not to be limited to the details herein set forth, but that my invention is of the full scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
I. A dual key holder, comprising:
a. a pair of essentially identical holder members;
b. a tab at one end of each holder member formed into a loop;
c. a key ring disposed in the loop;
d. permanent fastening means extending through the tab and corresponding holder member to secure the key ring in the loop;
e. a releasable fastener element carried by each fastening means;
f. and a mating releasable fastener element disposed at the opposite end of each holder member for connection to the corresponding fastener element thereby removably securing the holder members in confronting relation with the tabs extending in op posite directions.
2. A dual key holder as defined in claim 1, wherein:
a. the holder members and tabs are formed of leather.
3. A dual key holder as defined in claim 2, wherein:
a. the leather forms a smooth finished side and a rough unfinished side, the finished side of the leather forming the outer sides of the holder members when fastened together.
