UNITED STATES FATENT OFFICE.
ALQYSIUS e. BLINGOE, or LORETTO, KENTUCKY.
BAG HOLDER AND FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 390,643, dated October 9, 1888.
(ModeLl To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALOYSIUS G. BLINOOE, of Loretto, in the county of Marion and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and Improved Bag Holder and Fastener, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to theannexcd drawings, forminga partthereof, in which- Figures 1, 2, and 3 are side elevations of different forms of myimproved bag-holder. Fig. 4 is an edge View of aseries of bags, and Figs. 5 and 6 show the bags fastened.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and effective holder forsupporting bags when not in use, which may be employed to fasten the bag after it is filled.
My invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Several ways in which the supporting-fasteners may be applied to paper bags are shown in the drawings.
In Fig. 1 a wire, A, having circular eyes a,
formed upon opposite ends, is attached to the' bag B by inserting the eyes between the folds of the bag and pasting them together, partly inelosing the eyes.
In Fig. 2 I have shown a straight wire, A, having small eyes a formed upon opposite ends, the middle portion of the wire being inclosed by a flap, O, which is folded down over the wire and upon the inner face of the bag B and pasted, the ends of the wire A projecting beyond the sides of the flap O.
In Fig. 3 I have shown a U-shaped wire, A", having formed upon its ends eyes a for receiving cords b. The curved middle portion of the U-shaped wire A is secured between the folds of the bag B.
The bags shown in Figs. 1 and 4 are supported by the wire A, which is received on a nail, D, or other suitable support. In the case of the device shown in Fig. 3 one of the looped cords b is received on a nail, D. When the detached from the bags and are wrapped around the closed mouth of the bag and twisted together, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, forming a secure fastener. When the wires are provided with eyes a, as shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the eyes may be used, drawing the wire tightly around the mouth of the bag. They also protect the fingers from injury by contact with the ends of the wires.
In the device shown in Fig. 2 the bag is intended to be folded down over the mouth of the vial and the Wire fastened around the necks of the bag and the vial..
Where the bags are to be employed for wrapping vials and similar articles, it will be advantageous to form a small aperture in the bottom of the bag to allow the air to escape while the article is being introduced.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-'- 1. The combination, with the bag, of a suspension and fastening wire detachably secured to the mouth of the bag at one side thereof and formed with eyes at its ends, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a bag, of a suspending and fastening wire secured between its ends to the bag at its mouth and having eyes at its ends, substantially as set forth.
3. The combinatiornwitha bag,of a U shaped suspending and fastening wire secured between its ends to the bag at one side of its mouth, the ends of the wire being formed with eyes and projecting upward from the mouth of the bag, substantially as set forth.
ALOYSIUS G. BLINCOE.
