Patent Oct. 7,1975 3,909,89
JUMP-SUIT STYLE COVERING GNT' DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a garment. More particularly, the invention relates to a jump-suit style covering garment.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a lightweight, waterproof, windproof, warm garment which is safe, comfortable, warm and dry to wear and which is inexpensive in manufacture.
In order that the invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an embodiment of the garment of the invention worn on a wearer;
FIG. 2 is a side view of the neck portion of the garment of the invention;
FIG. 3 is a side view, partly cutaway, and partly in section, of the middle portion of the garment of the invention;
FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram of the head portion of the garment of the invention; and
FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram of a shoe cover of the garment of the invention.
In the FIGS., the same components are identified by the same reference numerals.
The jump-style covering garment of the invention comprises a windproof and waterproof body covering portion 1 (FIG. 1) for covering a wearer 2 from neck to wrists and ankles. The body covering portion 1 has wrist parts 3 and 4, (FIG. 1) ankle parts 5 and 6 (FIG. 1) and a neck part 7 (FIG. 2).
A pair of windproof and waterproof gloves 8 and 9 (FIG. 1) are removably affixed to the wrist parts 3 and 4, respectively, of the body covering portion 1 for covering the hands 10 and 11 of the wearer 2 (FIG. 1).
A pair of waterproof shoe covers 12 and 13 (FIGS. 1 and 5) are removably affixed to the ankle parts 5 and 6, respectively, of the body covering portion 1 for covering the feet 14 and 15 respectively (FIG. 1), of the wearer 2.
A windproof and waterproof head cover 16 (FIGS. 1 and 4) is removably affixed to the neck part 7 (FIG. 2) of the body covering portion 1 for covering the head of the wearer 2.
Each of the aforedescribed parts of the garment of the invention comprises any suitable lightweight, waterproof and windproof material. The material is preferably in attractive, bright, decorative hues, colors and designs. The body covering portion 1 has a zipper 17 (FIG. 1) from the neck part 7 (FIG. 2) to the crotch 18 (FIG. 1). A watertight flap section 19 (FIG. 1) is provided on the inside of the zipper 17 and is wider than said zipper. An overlapping strip or flaps 20 (FIG. 1) of material overlaps the zipper 17 on the outside of the garment. The inner and outer flaps prevent seepage of moisture through the garment in the area of the zipper.
An elastic watertight cover 21 (FIGS. 1 and 3) is provided over the inner bottom area of the torso. The watertight cover 21 is an extra piece of waterproof mate rial secured and sealed off on the inner side of the garment at the front between the waistline and the crotch. When the wearer of the garment is seated, water from rain or the like is likely to gather in the folds of the gar ment in the lap of the wearer. The cover 21 prevents water seepage through the fly of the garment thereby protecting the wearer from wetness.
In The body covering portion 1 has'a plurality of openings 22 and 23(FIG. 1") and hidden pockets 24, 25. and 26 (FIG. 1). Each of the openings and pockets is selectively closeable by a zipper, as shown in FIG. 3 for the pocket 26. Furthermore, each of the openings and pockets opens along the inside.
The neck part 7 of the body covering portion 1 slopes downward from back to front, as shown in FIG. 2.
The shoe covers preferably have reinforced tips thereon, as shown in FIG. 5, wherein a tip 27 is provided at the toe of the shoe cover 13. The reinforced tips prevent injury to the toes of the wearer.
The head cover 16 has a face opening 28 (FIG. 4) and elastic material 29 (FIG. 4) around said face opening to prevent wind and rain from entering. The head cover 16 also has a neck cover 30 (FIG. 4). Elastic material (not shown in the FIGS, since it is covered by the material of the head cover) is provided in the neck cover 30 for adjustment to different neck sizes. A col umn of hooks 31, and so on (FIG. 4), is affixed to one side 32 of the neck cover 30. A plurality of spaced columns of eyes 33, 34, 35, 36, and so on (FIG. 4), are affixed to the other side 37 of the neck cover 30 to permit closing of said neck cover to a selected extent.
In order to secure the overlapping strip 20 to prevent inadvertent opening of the zipper 17, fastening means such as, for example, snap fasteners, or hooks and eyes, 38, 39 and so on (FIG. 1), are affixed to the neck part of the body covering portion 1.
While the invention has been described by means of specific examples and in specific embodiments, I do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvious modifications will occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim:
1. A jump-suit style covering garment having a waistline, a crotch and a fly, said garment comprising a windproof and waterproof body covering portion for covering a wearer from neck to wrists and ankles, said body covering portion having wrist parts, ankle parts, a neck part, a zipper from the neck part to the crotch, a watertight flap section on the inside of the zipper and wider than the zipper, and a strip of material overlapping the zipper on the outside of the garment;

waterproof shoe covers removably affixed to the ankle parts of the body covering portion;
a windproof and waterproof head cover removably affixed to the neck part of the body covering portion; and
