MEDICATED PAPER.

Be it known that I, \VILLIAM SCHULTZ, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful improvements in Medicated Paper, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my invention consists in an improvement in medicated paper for watercloset use, which is also serviceable as a cure a preventive of piles. The medicated paper can be manufactured by hand or by machine.

In makingthe paper I take any one of the metallic oxides known as ocher or Spanish brown and finely grind or pulverize the same. \Vhen the ocher is reduced to a fine or pulverized state, it is mixed with a certain quantity of Vaseline. I have found satisfactor results to be obtained by taking about twentyiive pounds of ocher to about two pounds of Vaseline. The powder is put into what I may call the ocher-maehine, this bein g a sprinkling-machine of any suitable wellknown construction, through which the pa- After the mixture is put into the machine Itake a fine tissue-paper which comes in rolls, and as paper oes through the machine the mixture or preparation issprinkled on the paper. The effect of these operations is to produce a coating on the paper, as a certain quantity of the powder or mixture adheres to the paper, so that when the paper is used the adhering mixture will produce its beneficial effect. After the surplus mixture is brushed otf the paper the latter is put up into suitable formsuch as half-reams-and is then ready for cutting. After it is cut it is-put up in suitable packages or boxes and is then ready for use.

In place of sprinkling the preparation onto the paper by machine the sprinkling can be done by hand. I

In preparing the paper I can use any of the varieties of ocher.

\Vhat I claim as new, and by Letters Patent, is-

A medicated paper consisting of paper the surface of which is coated with ooher and Vaseline, substantially as described.
