J. P. RGBERT.
VAPORIZER.
No, 446,953. Patented Feb. 24,1891.
DAP/V19 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
.I ESSE P. ROBERT, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
vAPORlzER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 446,953, dated February 24, 1891. Application filed November 7, 1890. Serial No. 370,596. (No model.) v
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JESSE P. ROBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing` at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disinfeoting` Apparat us; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it. pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improved disinfecting apparatus; and it consists in the certain details of construction hereinafter specified.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a central sectional elevation of 4my improved apparatus as constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same, a part of which is shown in section.
To put my invention into practice, I provide a cylindric metallic vessel a, having a closed base and a perforated concave top h, through which a liquid disinfectant may escape. Centrally located Within this vessel a is a coneshaped chamber c, which forms an-annular space within thevessel a. The space between vessel c and the outer Wall is filled with asbestus, mineral Wool, orother like indestructible and porous material d. This annular space and the interior of the chamber c are in communication with each other by means of ports or openings e, formed through the base of the partition. This cone-shaped chamber c is provided with\an opening at the top and fitted with a screw-cap f to render the same air-tight. At the back of the apparatus is secured a disk g, having screw-holes formed therein for the purpose of attaching. the apparatus to the wall of a room.l A'small ring h, att-ached to the screw-cap f, serves as a means for suspending the same to a hook or nail. Surrounding the perforated top of the apparatus is an annular rim t', which will pre- Vent the fluid from the apparatus from ru nning down the outside.
In operation the cap f is removed and a liquid disinfectant placed in the inner chamber c and the cap f replaced, which renders the apparatus ready for use. The liquid gradually Saturates the fibrous material, and the vapors arising escape into the room.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The herein-described device for vaporizing disinfectants, consisting of the vessel c, having centrally located therein a chamber c, provided with the openings e, leading from said chamber c into the vessel a, the fibrous iilling d, the perforated top h, screw-cap f, and suitable means for att-aching'the device to the wall of a room.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I hereunto affix my signature this 11th day of October, A. D. 1890.
JESSE P. ROBERT. '[L. 8.]
In presence of- M. E. HARRISON, JOHN L. THOMPSON.
