To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, GABRIEL A. BOBRICK, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Nursing-Bottle and Nipple, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

In the construction of nursing-bottles and nipples it is necessary to provide for the easy removal of the nipple, so that the bottle may be easily filled or cleaned, and a dimcult-y arising from this construction is that the nip plc is liable to accidental displacement.

The object of my invention is to produce a bottle and nipple which may be quickly and easily secured together or separated and which will not interfere with the interior construction of the bottle but will permit it to be filled or cleaned as easily as bottles of the common form may be similarly operated on.

To this end my invention consists in certain features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures of referenceindioate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, of a bottle and nipple embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a broken detail sectional view showing a modified form of the nipple, and Fig. 3 is a broken detail sectional View showing another modification of the nipple.

The preferred construction is shown in Fig. 1, and in this case the bottle 10 is shaped like a common bottle, but is provided on opposite sides of its neck with projecting lugs 11, which are preferably arranged so as to have a downward inclination. The nipple 12 is usually of rubber and is adapted to slip upon the neck of the bottle, and near the lower end of the nipple and on opposite sides are perforations which are adapted to receive the lugs 11, and to prevent the nipple from being unduly strained it is reinforced around the perforations, as shown at 18 in all the figures. It will thus be seen that the nipple may be easily slipped to its seat on the bottle and that the lugs, projecting as they do through the nipple, make accidental displacementimpossible.

In Fig. 2 the bottle has the lugs described above, and the nipple 14 is provided with holes to fit the lugs; but the nipple is also provided with a ring'15 at its upper end, through which a rubber tube 16 may be passed and coupled to a glass tube 17, which may project into the bottle in the usual way. The rubber and glass tubes form no part of my invention, and the nipple is shown in connection with the tubes to illustrate its adaptability to the common forms of bottles and their attachments.

As shown in Fig. 3, the bottle has the lugs described above, and the nipple 18 differs essentially in form but not in principle from the nipples described above. The nipple 18 has projecting cars 19 upon opposite sides, which ears are thickened and perforated, so as to receive the lugs, and the inner portion of the nipple is formed into a packing-ring 20, which fits closely around the glass stopper 21, adapted to enter the neck of the bottle. This stopper has a central bore, through which the tube 16 may pass, and it is a modification of the device shown in Fig. 2.

The three views will illustrate the universal adaptability of my improved nipple and lug to diiferent bottle attachments; and the invention consists in the fastening, which is common to all the devices shown.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with a bottle having projecting lugs on its neck, of a nipple having perforations to receive the lugs, substantially as specified.
