TRAVELERS TOILET-CASE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 602,494, dated April 19, 1898.

Be it known that I, EDWARD ROBERT BRIGGS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Amesbury, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Travelers Toilet-Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to toilet-cases for travelers use, and is more particularly designed to provide not only a case to contain the various articles necessary for the toilet, but to provide also a lavatory apparatus comprising water-founts and a basin for the utilization thereof, the whole to be of a compact arrangement and adapted to the exigencies peculiar to travelers.

In further describing my invention I will make use of the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the case in an open position. Fig. 2 is alongitudinal section thereof on the middle line 2 2. Fig. 3 is a partial section on the line 3 3.

In the several figures the same numeral indicates the same part.

1 represents a portion or section of the case secured by hinges 2 to a similar section 3, both preferably made of metal, but which maybe finished in leather or other desirable manner, and the whole having a handle 4.

In the section 1 is a' mid-partition or diaphragm 5, to which may be attached by any suitable means the toilet-brush 6, mirror 7, and the varied articles of the toilet, and which partition 5 forms a water-fount 8, with inlet 9, by which water may be introduced. faucet 10, preferably of the ball-valve type, adapted to beturned out of the way in recess 11. Compartments 12,with lids 13, are adapted to hold requisites of the toilet.

The section or part 3 comprises a wastereservoir 14, with outlet 15, and in the upper face 16 of which is an orifice 17, either fixedly or removably secured, into which is the basin 18, with waste-opening 19, closed by a plug 20 or similar means. If desired, the soapreceptacle 21 may be indented in the face 16.

From the foregoing description the operation of my invention will be readily understood,water for ablutions being readily flowed from the fount 8 into the basin 18 and, when desired, maybe run through the outlet 19 into the reservoir 14, the latter being emptied when filled.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I wish to secure by Letters Patent, and claim, is-

In a portable toilet-case, the combination of the hinged registering sections thereof and handle for carrying the same, a transverse diaphragm of the one section forminga waterfount and a compartment for toilet articles, the inlet and the bib of the said water-fount, the waste-reservoir of the other section with outlet therefor, the orifice in the top of the waste-reservoir, and the basin fitted into the said orifice, the said basin having a wasteway, substantially as and in the manner described.
