Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. S. ORBE- TON, of Cliftondale, county of Essex, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Urinals, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a specification, like letters on the drawing representing like parts.

Myinvention is a urinal for the convenience of invalids, being adapted for use by a convalescent or with the aid of an attendant.

The details of construction, manner of use,

and advantages of my invention will .be-

pointed out in the following description, and more particularly defined in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.

The drawing presents a side elevation, partly broken away and in section, showing a preferred embodiment of my invention.

At its inner end the apparatus is provided with a tapering tubular body, cone, or mouthpiece a. This cone at its larger end is obliquely truncated, as indicated at a', where it is provided with an inturned flange or lip a2, adapted to be pressed close against the iiesh or slightly embedded, so as to prevent any leakage or inconvenience, and at its opposite or smaller end the cone a has, preferably, a bead a3 for the attachment of a tube or conduit directly thereto when it is desired to use it alone, removed from the rest of the apparatus, it being understood that said tube will lead to any suitable receptacle.

Preferably the cone will be removably mounted in the mouth of a special receptacle, as shown, where e indicates a bottle or can of metal, glass, or other material, preferably having ribs c and thumb depressions e3 adjacent the upper edge, so that it may be readily held by a nurse in the required position, about as shown, with the opening a extending in a plane inclined to the longitudinal axis of the receptacle, the receptacle e also preferably having handles e3 for the convenience of the patient. l

The cone may be secured by threads on a collar a4, screwing into the bottle-neck, as shown, packing c4 being interposed, or it may be integrally secured or formed directly in the neck of the receptacle.

The drain-off tube or conduit may be se cured directly on the cone, in which case' the latter is provided with a handle a5, or it may be fastened to a nipple e5 on, the bottle, this 5 5 nipple being shown as at the lower corner and inset, so as not to catch on the bedding or interfere with standing the bottle up.

In view of the full description already given it is unnecessary to explain more at length 6o the use and many advantages of my invention.

I wish it understood that I am not restricted tothe precise embodiments of my invention as herein shown, inasmuch as many changes and modifications may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention. i

This urinal has been especially devised for use of women, and in use the handle a5 may 7o be above or below the portion a, according to theposition of the patient.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-ffl. A urin al for invalids, composed of a high and narrow body provided with a handle at its upper thin edge and having at its receiving end an inwardlydirected cone -shaped lip or end extending in a plane oblique to its 8o general length.

2. In a urinal for invalids, the combination with a high and narrow receptacle having a holdingrib and thumb depressions at its upper thin edge, of a tapering tubular body at the inlet end thereof, said body having at its larger end an opening extending in a plane inclined to the longitudinal axis of the receptacle and having an opening within the receptacle, and provided with a handle on its 9o upper and longer side, and the receptacle having an outlet-aperture at its lowerinost corner adapted to be connected to a drain-off tube, substantially as described.
