.SPECIFIUATION forming part of-Letters Eatent No. 691,695, dated January 21 1902.
- Application filed April 11, 1901; Serial No. 55,280. the model-l To all? whom itrmty concern:-
'Be it known that we, ADOLPI-L-ADEREB,
IJUL'ius Annua s, and I-IUeoAnEsnR, itizens of the United States, residing atthe city of New York, in the county .of New. Y on; and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cases for Dental Instruments, of which the following is a full,
clear, and exact specification.
This invention relates to cases for dental instruments; and its object is to constru't a case for containing the instruments employed in making and fitting seamless dental crowns, such that the instruments may be compactly and orderly arranged therein for 'trausporta tion and at the same time be ready for use as a workbench or the like without requiring-specially-constructed appliances for the purpose.
Theiuvention will be more particularly described with reference to the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, inv whi ch' Figure 'l is a perspectiue-"view'of the case, 5
showing the lid open and the draw-plate and die-rack in position; and Fig. 2 is a side sec- 'tional'view of the case shown in Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, '1 represents the base of the case, and 2, 3, and 4: the respective sides thereof, these sides being firmly mounted upon the base perpendicular thereof.
5 is the lid or cover, hinged to the side 3 andhavingthe side 6 hingedto its outer edgeythe lid and side ,6 being-adapted to swing over and cover the top and front of the case. 7 is a hook carried by the side 6 and adapted to engage the eye 8, attached-to the, base 1 partition'dan'd thesides .2, 3, and, 4, into Thor-partition 9 is supported upon the base 1 and braced between the sides 2 and 4, parallel witht-lreside 3, thusforming a perpendicularcompartinent having for its sides the which'compartment the blocklO, of substantially thesame sectional c'ontour as the compertinent, is adapted to-fit. *The block 10 is of; a thicknessconsiderably less than the depth'o'f the case and hasform'ed therein a plurality of ,socketsor holes 1l,'into which the vario'isdies and phnches maybe placed.
Alongitudinal recess 12 is formed in one side of the block 10 and adapted to receive the front of the case, and at the front of the case i a brace-1 5 is fitted between the two sides 2 and .4 and 'rests upon. the shoulders 14 14,
This arrangement forms a substantial bench, of which the sides 2 and 4- are the legs "and the partitiorr 9 and the brace 15 are the sides.-
Into this .bench the draw-plate 16 is placed,
" forming the top of the bench, the ends of the draw-plate resting upon the ends of the shoulders 14: 14in the sides? and 4.
IILOI'Cll' to transport the system, the drawplate 16 is placed in the bench, the die-plate 13 in the space 12 between the rack 10'and the wall 3, and the dies and punches are placed in the respective holes 11 in the rank 10. The lid 5 and side 6 are then folded down and the hook 7 fastened. The system is ready for use as soon as the lid is open, for the various dies may be punched to form the crowns by driving the punches through the proper holes in the draw-plate, the chamber. 17 be-,
neath the (liar/ slate beingsufliciently deep to allow the punch to be driven through the plate in order to allowthe punch to be readily removed. I
Having thus described our invention, we declare that what we-claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In a case for dental instruments, the com'-' bination with a box or case, of means torh0lding the dental punches, and a draw-plate hav ing openings extending therethrough adapted for the swaging of tooth-crowns by manipulation of the punches therewith, said drawplate being held in the case above the bottom thereof whereby a clear space is left beneath the draw-plate'to facilitate the manipulationand withdrawal of the punches when they are a used.
2. Inacase fordental instruments, the'eombiuation with a box or case open at one of its sides ot means for ho'ldi rig the dental punches in the rear of thecase, and a draw-plate having openingsextending, therethrough adapted for the swaging of'tooth-crowns by manipulation of the punches therewith, said drawplate being held on the case above the bottom thereof adjacentthe open side of the case,
whereby a, clear space islet t beneath the'd raw- -plate to'facilitate the manipulation and withthe sides of the box adjacent the open front 7 and constituting the topof the front compartment, Said draw-plate having openings extending therethron h adapted for the swaging of tooth crown; by manipulation of punches therewith, a rack located in the rear compartment and having means for holding; the dental punches and die-plate, and a cover or lid hinged to the case and having a side hinged to itself which is adapted to close the open front side of the box when the lid in down.
In testimony whereof'we atfix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
ADOLPI-I ADERER. JULIUS ADEREl'i. HUGO ADERER.
