NITED STATES Patented October 20, 1903.
ERICK- W. PETERSON, OF KENOSHA, WISCONSIN.
APRON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 742,059, dated October 20, 1903.
Application filed June 25, 1903. Serial No. 163,020. (No model.) I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERICK W. PETERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kenosha, in the county of Kenosha and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in VVorkmens Aprons; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved workmans apron; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed. 7
The object of my invention is to provide an apron of this class which may be readily put on and taken off, which is exceedingly cheap and simple, which is cooler than the ordinary apron, and which may be made of any suitable fabric or of leather, and which is adapted to be readily adjusted to fit the wearer'and is extremely elastic, so as not to impede his movements. p
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a workmans apron embodying my improvements, showing the back flaps open. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same, showing the back flaps closed and showing the yoke-flaps connected to the back flaps by the suspender-straps.
In theembodiment of my invention I provide the front piece 1 of the apron with yokeflaps 2, adapted to be passed over the shoulders of the wearer, and with back flaps 3, which extend from the sides of the front piece and are adapted tobe folded at the back of the wearer, so that one of the said flaps 3 will overlap the other. One of the back flaps is provided with a button 4 and the other is provided with a buttonhole. Any other suitable device may be employed within the scope of my invention to secure the back flaps together at their upper sides, where they overlap, and I do not desire to limit myself in this particular.
The shoulder or yoke flaps 2 are provided at their inner corners with elastic suspenderstraps 6, which are adapted to be crossed at the back of the wearer and the lower ends of which are adapted to be buttoned or otherwise detachably fastened to the upper sides of the back flaps 3. Sleeve-bands 7 are attached to the outer sides of the shoulder or yoke flaps and also to the outer upper corners of the front piece 1. The latter is provided on its front side with suitable pockets 8.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings,
the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A workmans apron comprising a front piece, projecting flaps 3 at the sides and above the lower end thereof adapted to be over- ERICK W. PETERSON.
Witnesses:
ROBERT VERNE BAKER, ADA B. BAKER.
