S?ECIFICATION forming part of Letters -Patent. No. 749,382, dated January 12, 19%
Application filed May 22, 1903. Sorixl 50. 158,291. (R0 model.)
To all when! it may clmrcrn:
lie it known that l, FLOYD W. llnsmzasox, a citizen ofthe United Statcsfresid i ng at lit tsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have. invented a new and useful 'Improvementin Urinals, of which improvement the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in urinal apparatus adapted to be attached to the wearer and in readiness for use at any time with persons alilietcd with diseases having tendencies to cause urine to tlc v involuntarily.
The invention relates to various features of construction and in arrangements of parts, as will is: hereinafter more fully described and then specifically dclincd in the appended claim.
.Tlte invention is illustrated in the accompzu n vin, drawings, which, with the numerals of reference marked thereon, form a partof this application, and in which drawings Figure l is a side elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device, showing, means for attachment of same to the bod v of a wearers Fig. 3 is a detail view showing, a drain-pipe attached to the bag, and Fig. 4: is an enlarged sectional detail.
Reference now being bad to the details of the device by numerals, 1 indicates bag or body portion of the device made, preferably, of flexibie rubber, similar to the material of which water-bags are made, and is provided with a contracted neck 2 and adjusting-strap 3 about said neck, secured thereto bysuitable fastening. means, as at 4;. A funnel-shaped member 5 has a flange 5 of cylindrical out line, which is adapted to tit; within the outer end of said neck, thus forming a pocket. intermediate the surrounding wall of the neck and flange and the, outer surface of said conical-sizaped member, whereby when the wearer of the device assumes a recumbent, position the urine of the bag will be prevented from running out when the bag is partially tilled.
liars 6 are attached to the neck atlocations diametrically opposite to receive straps 7, which are adapted to be fastened 0;; a buckle 8 about the body of the wearer. A threaded nipple t) is titted to the bottom of: the bag and may be closed by a cap' 10, or thelatter may be removed and a pipe 11 titted to said nipple.
In operation tbemale organ is inserted into the conical-shaped member with its head extending within the bag, and, if desired, the stmp 3 may be tighte'iicd somewhat and the straps T fastened aboutthebtxlyof the wearer for the purpose o relieving, the organ of the weight of the device. When the pipe is connected to the bug, the latter may be easily drained, as shown.
What- I claim is- A urinal apparatuscomprising a bag hating a contracted neck, aconical-shapedmcmher having a cylindrical tlnnge'designcd to enter the neck of the bag and hold same. distended, leaving a space intervening between said conical-shaped member and wall of the bag, and means for attaching the device to the body of a wearer, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I havehereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses FLOYD WV. HENDERSON.
In presence of F. O. Hrzxzr, 1L HUXTBR.
