HANS LKOREY, OF SGHUNEBERG, NEAR BERLIN, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO THE FIRM OF W.-GRAAFF & COMPAGNIE GES. MIT BESCHR. HAFTUNG,
' OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
HAND-OPERATED COLOR-SPRAYlNG DEVICE WITH INTERCHANGEABLE COLOR-RECEPTACLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 13. 1906.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HANS MI'KOREY, a civil engineer, and a' subject of the German Emperor, anda resident 0 t13 Wartburgs,t'ras'se, in the city of Schoneberg, near Beriin, Kingdom of Prussia,
and German Emire, have invented a certain new and useful and OperatedlColores raying Device with eceptacle, of which the following is aspecification.
This invention relates to a color-sprayin or disintegrating device 0 erated by hand and provided with interca'ngeable color- --i'ece tacle' which is particularly distinguished by t e fact that the receptaclefor the dye or coloring-matter, together with automaticallyclosingdischargemoflle, which; is opened to my adjustable extent during the operation of theapparat'us', is detachably andvinterohangeably arranged in relation to the-su {frame of the spraying device. -T c said frame in its turn is. so arranged and 0011- of the device may beea sily interchanged and besides.being provided in connectiofi withi its handle with the means for admitting the pip'lressed air serving for theoperation of sintegrator or sprayer 1t also possesses a of the 'comp'ressedalr ,as well as the discharge from. the color-receptacle, may be regulated. The disintegration or spraying is produced ass from nozzle into a beak-she" edlcom ressed-air nozzle, the color being t own 0 as a spray by the compressed-aircurrent.
The invention is intended to provide means for making it possible to interchange the color-receptacle with accessories inpieces I that after the color-receptacle kind in such a manner is detached the remaining of ports or passages filled with coloring-matter upon the frame of the appas of apparatus of this ratus is avoided, so that upon attaching another receptacle filled with a difi'erent coloring-matter the spraying operation can be,
i "immediately taken up againwithout it bevso coming necessary-to provide first for the cleaning awe of; the remainders Oi'fiOlOI frojn the'fgrievrousoperation. Upon t e accompanyinghr'? vside or wings aifornr of construction of the spraying apparatus ,is' shown, by way of example, in whlch Figure 1 is a side view of the apparatus, partly in section, While Fig. 2 is an end View of the supporting-frame with the receptacle removed.
The supporting-frame a is provided with feet I), a tubular art of WlllCh the handle 0', in tli valve-stem p is arranged, which serves for the actuation of the admission-valve g for the compressed air. The admission-conduit of the corn ressed air is secured at the lower end'at d. g box e, situated in the interior of c, the com pressedair pipe with the beak-shaped nozzlev z is branche oil, the said compressed-air etween the valve g and a stufiingcom rises I e interior of which the pipe being downwardly inclined.- The valvestem p is pressed upward bya spring f, res onding to the normal position va ve g. 1
h in the construction illustrated in the drawings indicates a lever for the 0 eration of the valve and detachably secure to the corfork-shaped part is plate-shaped. The lever 'ma' be de ressed by the thumb of the hand wit whic the operator takes hold of, theoat s;
crotating pi vot 6, while the front end of the said lever staircase he part facing said i apparatus at the handle 0, and upon depressing the'said lever'the valve-rod p is actuated, so asto'be able to control the opening of the valve g.
In order to be able to detach the lever h from the stud-or pivot i, the lever is I provided with a sprin The detachable 00% cated at 7.
It is'detachably secured to the or-receptacle is indisupporting-frame, which is effected by the engagement of books n with recesses of flanges a, provided in the upper part of. the frame and, on the other hand,by inserting the cylindrical base 0 of the receptacle in a socket a, ofthe said frame. The said soc'ketis in the shape of a sleeve op 'ba onet-lock ring at, with projection 1 allows to ock the' parts in their respective positions after having inserted the ring at the open the socket and turning the projection '91 so as to engage below a The base art 0 of the rece vided at itsi 21c w, rem which the coloring-matter when thereneptacleisin thepositionshown inFig:
en at the front, and a 1 of-the drawings may flow ddivn directly uponfthe beak-shaped compressdeir nozzle 2. The dischar e from said ndhzle is nor 1 malty closed, an it is controlled during the operation of the apparatus by a valve 0, with valve rod u, which extends upward in the intenor of the tubular rear part of the receptaale 1' and which projects at the u er end through the part 9 of'the lever h. pon the insertion of the receptacle 1 in the supporting-frame the lever h may be temporari y removed, if necessary, to be fixed up thereafter again in operative position.
By means of a spring 8 the rod u of the valve 0 is forced downward in such a manner that the valve '0 will keep the diecharge opem ing for the coloring-matter vnormally closed. The end of the rod u which is situated above 9 is provided with an adjustable stop or button so that upon depressing the lever h at the far-off end the valve-rod u-is raised and the valve 1; opened, beginning with a certain length of stroke of the rod. The arrangement is such that when the lever h is operated the admission-valve for the compressed air is first opened and on y then the valve vis opened, s'o-as to be able to ad'ust the area of said opening. The adjustabllity is effected by providing the button In. The jet of compressed air issuing from a slot and passing along the spoon-shaped face of the nozzle 2 meets the jet of coloring-matter issuing from the nozzle to and disintegrates the same, the
sprayed or disintegrated color being carried away in a downwardly-inclined direction.
The arrangement and the position of the nozfront at the open art of the socket a.
stance disengaging the hooks a from the frame. If necessary, the lever h, which is only retained ii -position on its pivot i by the flat spring 7', should be ,previousl removed. en an other color-receptac e is inserted into the apparatus in place of the former receptacle, it is not necessary any more with the device hereinbefore described to take into account the inconveniences prevailing in the spraying and. dispersing apparatuses, as hereinbefore em 10 ed, Where communicatingpassages 11 ot er parts of the apparatus remain filled 'and clogged up with t e coloring-matter of the former receptacle and had to be cleaned out first.
The arrangement and construction according to this invention, in which the detachable color-receptacle is itself provided with the discharge-nozzle and with the corresponding discharge-regulating device, allows of effecting the replacement of thereceptacles at once, the new receptacles being then in condition for immediate operation. 1 After the recepta ole is detached it is automatically closed.
' What I claim, and desire to secure by Let v ters Patent of the United States, is
Hand operated color dispersing or spray 111g apparatus'with compressed-air admission,
comprising a supporting-frame, a handle on said supporting ame, com ressed air ad mission conduit, compresse -air nozzle and regulating-lever all mounted on said frame, any color-receptacle being detachably and interchangeably connected to said support jug-heme, a dlsoharge nozzle' and shutting and controlling devices for the said nozzle being provided on said receptacie andcooperating with the regulatingdever, the said discharge-nozzle being'fittedover the com' pressed-air nozzle. Y
In. witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 9th day-of December, 1905, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. p v HANS MIT (OBEY; Witne'sses: I
