SUS PENSORY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 16, 1907.
' Application filed May 14,1906. Serial No. 316,868.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, FRANK E. DE MARs, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New Yorkand State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspensories, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention isto provide an improved pants-button suspensory the con struction of which will provide a comfortable device of this character and produce no. in-
jurious or uncomfortable effects and which may be used for the treatment of genitourinary diseases.
The invention'conslsts, essent1ally,. of a vsuspensory in which the pouch is arranged for suspension from the front suspendersbuttons or trousers, so that the usual waistbelt-may be done away with as well as its uncomfortable effects, and a sack arranged for detachable connection to the support for the pouch, said sack being useful whenever necessary, particularly in the treatment-of diseases peculiar to men.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof,-'and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction of the means for efiecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which' Figure 1 is a perspective view of my suspensory. 2 is a vertical sectiona view thereof. Fig. 3 is a rear perspective view of the pouch.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the followin description and indicated in all the views 0 the drawings by the same reference characters.
Referring to the drawings, the -numeral 1 designates a pouch for the testicles, preferably composed of rubber or oiled silk or similar li ht and. strong material especially adapted 5 01- the use forwhich this device is intended, and 2 designates a pad of some textile fabric, to which the front edge of the pouch is permanently secured, asby a row ofstitches. The front of the pouch is pro corners of the vided with the usual opening 3, and its rear edge is provided with a hem 4, in which a draw-ta e 5 is inserted. The draw-tape 5 is passe through slits 6 in the pad 2 to thefront thereof and may be tied into a how 7 to hold it at different adjustments. By means of this tape 5 it is manifest that the pouch may be drawn up more or less tight, so that it may be adjusted to a comfortable tension upon the parts which it carries.
To the pad 2 are secured two tabs 8, preferably of some resilient material, as rubberwebbing, and said tabs are made adjustable by means of loops 9 and buckles 10, so as to maintain them at different lengths. In the loops 9 are button-holders 11, designed to be inserted over the front suspenders-buttons of the wearers trousers, and in this way the entire device is supported. 12 desig nates a sack that ma be detachably secured in front of the pouc 1 by means of direct attachment to the pad 2 by means of glovefasteners 13-, the members of which are attached to the front of the pad and the rear end of the sack, respectively. The sack 12 is intended for local treatment and may be dispensed with whenever unnecessary.
Havin thus described the invention, what is claime as new is The herein-described improved suspensory com rising a pad 2, extensible tabs 8 secured at t eir lower ends to the opposite upper ad and provided at their upper ends with utton-holders 11 adapted to 'be inserted over the front pants-buttons, a
pouch secured to the lower edge of said pad, the said pad being provided with one member of detachable spring socket-fasteners, and a sack provided at its'rear end with the complemental parts of said fasteners whereby it may be detachably secured to the pad.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRANK E. DE MARS. [L. s] Witnesses:
HARRY L. Roo'r, LOGAN WILLIAMS.
