HUSKING IMPLEMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 9, 1907.
Application filed May 17,1906. Serial No. 317,388.
This invention has relation to wrist corn huskers and curely attached to both the hand and the wrist.
In the accompanying drawing:Figure 1. is a palm view of a hand showing the husker applied thereto, Fig.
2 is a view of a hand showing the husker applied thereto and illustrating the freedom of wrist movement, Fig. 3 is a back view of a hand having the husker applied thereto, and Fig. l is an edge elevation of the plate of the husker. I
The husker consists of the plate 1, the upper edge of which is attached the strap 2 and to the lower end of which is attached strap 3. The strap 2 is adapted to pass across the palm of the hand in a diagonal line and extends across the back of the hand just below the knuckles of the fingers. The strap 3 passes across the base of the palm of the hand and also across the base of the back of the hand. The strap 4 passes around the wrist on the opposite side of the wrist joint. I That is to say that the wrist joint is between the straps 3 and 4. The chains 5, 5 connect the lower edge of the plate 1 with the strap 4. The husking peg 6 is fixed to the face I of the plate 1. Said plate is of peculiar configuration in which resides advantages such as comfort to the hand and effectiveness in operation. The edge 7 of said plate which is adapted to rest nearest the thumb is curved so as to fit around the base of the thumb and not interfere with the movement of the same. The upper edge 8 of the plate extends in an oblique direction in order that the fingers of the hand may close downreadily upon the plate and that the upper edge may not interfere with the movement of the fingers. The upper corner 9 of the plate is adapted to rest between the base of the index finger and the lower thumb joint. In edge elevation. the said plate is convexed throughout its entire length so as to fit over the ball of the thumb without binding the same. The wrist strap 4 is connected to the plate 1 by means of the flexible chains 5, thus the movement of the wrist joint is not interfered with and at the same time the husker is providedwith a wrist strap.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
A husking implement consisting of a plate provided with a husking peg and having means connected thereto at one end thereof for attachment to the hand, spaced inde pendent wrist engaging straps one of which is secured to the opposite end of the plate, and separate flexible connections between the wrist engaging straps.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto atfixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses g JOHN .T. HESER.
