Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented nee. 1"?, 1907.
application ned December 17.1906. serai No. 348.171.
T o all whomA it may cnce'm:
Be it known that, NOBLE LE R. brons, a
citizen of the United States, residing at .Ak-
ron, in the county of Plymouth and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful lmprovement in a Broom and Dust-Pan Hanger, of which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention is a combined broom and dust pan holder, the Object being to provide a highly efficient combination device formed from a single piece of wire and adapted to be secured in the wall for the purpose of holding the broom in an upright position and also providing a convenient means for suspending the dust pan, and with these objects in view the invention consists in the novel features accordance with my invention I employ a,
single piece of stout spring wire' which at its center is coiled one or more times in the form of a circle as shown at A andafter being so coiled, `the members B, are extended obliquely across each other as shown at C and each arm or member B is then coiled one or more times in the form of a circle vas shown at D, and after being so coiled the wire is carried rearwardly as shown at E and oney strand thereof is continued 1n a horizontal line and threaded as indicated at F to provide a suitable shank which is adapted to be inserted in the wall or other rigid object to which the device is to be attached, While the other member is carried downwardly and outwardly, and bent back upon Aitself and returned and wrappedas shown at G, and where the said member is bent back upon `itself, after being carried downwardly and outwardly, a hook H is provided which hook is intended to support the dust pan I, as
most clearlyshown in Fig: the hookmeniv ber resting .flat against the wall as most clearly shown in Figs. l and 3.
The members E are made slightly divergent as most clearly shown in Fig. 4 in order to more firmly grasp the handle K of the broom, as most clearly shown in Fig. 2. In order to insert the broom handle in the support, it is only'necessary to force said handle against the coils D which coils immediately separateand the handle will then pass in between the( members 'E but the icross members lB will serve to limit the inward movement of the handle.` and 4at the same,- time serve to impart the proger pressure said cross upon the coils D and members members B receiving their force from the central coil A.
In' order to remove the broom handle it will of course only .be necessary to quickly withdraw .the handle from the support and the said support. then resumes its normal shape as shown at Fig. 4.
YItwill thus be seenv that I provide an exceedingly cheap simple andl efficient-form of` combination device capable of supporting both the broom and dust pan. It will of course be understood that any other article having a handle can be supported equally as Well as a broom.
Havin thus fully described my invention, what I c aim as new `and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A de vice of the kind described formed from a single piece of wire comprising a threaded shank, and a hook depending therefrom, a pair of graspingmembers terminating at their forward ends in coils, and acens' tral coil arranged remote from the forward end of the graspingmembers connected to each of said coils.
2. A device of the kind -described formed from a sin le piece of Wire and comprising a central coi cross arms extending from said central coil and terminating incoils at ltheir forward ends, rearwardly extending grasping members, one of said members .terminating in a shank and the other in a depending hook member as set forth.
