PATENT OFFICE.
HEINRICH AHRENS,v OF HALLE-ON-THH-SAALE; GERMANY ADJUSTING APPARATUS FOR INSTRUMENTS OF PRECISION.
Specification of Letters Patent,
Patented. June 9, 1908.
. Application filed April 13, 1905, Serial N0. 266,435. Renewed April 30,1908, serial N0. 430,}54-
To all whom it may concern: 4
Be it known that I, HEINRICH AHRENS, a d subject of the German Emperor, residing at Halle-on-the-Saale, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjusting Apparatus for Instruments of Precision, of w 10h the following is a specification.
This invention relates to adjusting apparatus with exchangeable adjusting cones for instruments of precision and the object of the invention is to provide an apparatus that can be used for measuring countersinks of almost any diameter and. for ascertaining whether such countersinks are perfectly round or not. r
- The invention is illustrated panying drawin sin which Figure 1 is a ongitudinal section the pin e being shown in plan and Fig; 2 a section on the line 2 2 of Fig.1.- Fig. 3 is a view ofone of the cones. i i
In this drawing, (1, indicates the case screw.
in the accom-- threaded at b, and having an enlarged end,
- containing the'longitudinal recess a and'the transverse openings ai -which are adapted to receive the cheeks g. The recess a is continuedup into the smaller part of the case 'a as shown at 03,. This portion (i? issmaller in diameter than therecess a. A slota eX- tends diametrically through the casec and communicates with the upper part of the re-' cess. (2 The adjusting cones f fit in the re ces's a and their shanks f extends up into the recess (i A 'am nut c screwed on the screw threads I; of t 'e1ca'se,= carries' afianged ringk, the flanges of support a non-rotatable ring :1 into which? a supijgmting pin e screwed, This p'inl' e enteritis through ,thej
slot 212$ and through ahole'h'iin the shank f of the adjusting cones. A'scale i is provided on the case a. By turning the nut c the ring (I is caused to more downwardly carryin the pin 6 with it and-thus the cones are force down and push the cheeks outwardly against the ed e of the countersink being measured. If the iameter from edge to outer edge of the cheeks .g amounts to 70 mm. then this diameter is increased; for example, to 85 mm. simply b means of screwing down jam-nut -'c unti the lower edge of the rin stands on the desired nark of the scale hile this movement is carried out the action of the cone arrangement causes checks g to be" be, adjusted to the 'tuatihg said cheeks, a nut c movable on saidcase, a non-rotatable ring carried by said nut, and a pin carried by said ring, said p 'nbeing connected to the cone, substantially as described.
testimony whereof I have signed my name this specification in the two subscribing witnesses.
HEINRICH AHRENS;
presence of Witn esses; p RUDOLPH FRIOKE,
S. P. WARNER.
